CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT

INVITATION

I had never given thought about what lies beyond this world. I never believe in supernaturals, not even ghosts.

I had a simple life; I didn't have big dreams. What I only wanted was to finish high school, be able to get to a university, get a decent job, and leave that small town. As simple as that.

Yeah, I thought life would be as simple as what I thought it would be.

It never crossed my mind that the world I know was not really what I thought it was.

Three pairs of crimson eyes stared at me intensely, those eyes I had never seen before was amazingly hypnotic yet giving me that cold unfamiliar chill of fear.

"W-what do you want from me?" I asked as the two of them walked towards me.

I didn't even know how I was taken to this place. What I only knew was that I was running away from them, everything went dark and when I woke up I was already in this dark alley. The night was deadly silent. I couldn't hear any noise just the footsteps of the two of them.

Terror seized me so strongly that I was literally trapped by it. I couldn't make my feet move. I wanted to scream but could not find even the faintest voice to do that.

"C'mon Sabrina you don't need to be scared." The petite girl with a high musical voice said.

They were wearing black capes and through the dim light of the moon, I could see their beautiful faces with those pairs of crimson eyes.

"We are here to bring you back to where you belong, mi'lady." The tall guy who stood right next to the petite girl said and flashed a smile revealing his perfect teeth.

I really didn't get what they were trying to say. I didn't even know who they were or what they were.

I really wished that it was only a nightmare and hoped that I'd wake up soon.

"You're freaking her out instead of convincing her to come with us." The other guy leaning on the wall said. He has been silent the whole time. His face was more beautiful compared to the other guy and even taller than him. But his eyes were fearsome that it had given me chills down my spines. They were like blades of a sword, careful and sure.

"Do you have any good suggestions then?" The girl smirked at that guy.

I felt that my knees were shaking. I couldn't distinguish if it was because of fear worsening at each minute or the cold—or maybe both.

The guy walked towards me and stretched out his hand to me. I wanted to run but my instinct told me to stay still. I didn't even know if I have the strength to run anyway.

"You need to come with us, Sabrina. Don't worry we won't hurt you." He said with a calm voice but I couldn't see any emotions reflecting in his crimson eyes.

I didn't know what I was thinking or what has happened, but the next thing I know was that my hand was reaching for his. It was like it has its own mind. His hand was so cold but strangely comforting.

"W—who are you?!" I managed to ask.

In a split second, I already saw the two right beside the guy holding my hand.

"We are your royal guards mi'lady."

I heard the other guy said, and everything went dark again.
