Chapter 3: Terraforming

The earth was full on Pando mania. Tsunami's crashing from the shores. High magnitude earthquake, rumbling everything what existed on the land. The high tower structures, long bridges, everything collapsing one after another. The Burj khalifa, the Afil tower, the pentagon, everything gone. The tycoon coming and sweeping everything away.

And it wasn't just natural disasters that decimated human society, some nuclear bombs started exploding one by one, eroding every single life that it was in its range.

It was like; the god was bored one day and decided to eradicate earth and all the people in it.

Who could have thought that a day would come where such a disaster would arrive out of nowhere? No predictions, no scientific findings, nothing.

It just happened one day, flooding away all the people out of nowhere and it wasn't like those movies. No, no. it was way worse. It seems the earth was transforming. Trying to change. Trying to adjust itself for something, something new that just started appearing.

A kind of unique force. A force so strong that the earth itself needed to change, needed to correct itself for its best environment.

After hours and hour's rapid destruction and creation, the terraforming finally stopped. The earthquake, the tornadoes, every natural disaster which was decimating earth and all the living beings in it, finally stopped.

After so much destruction and chaos. The only lucky Eight percent of humanity remained and even that would be down to zero percent if the disaster was going any second longer. Countries decimated island countries like japan, turning into a massive continent on itself. Half of North America sunk to the ocean floor. The Europe erased from its existence. Only leaving the blue ocean in its place.

And it wasn't landing. The weather also changed. Hot winds started coming from the north and icy winds coming from the east.

Japan, Tokyo city.

Japan was only affected by earthquakes but not just small ones but with super high magnitudes which flipped many lands and properties like nothing, with new mountains and lands appearing all around the corner.

The shores and many beaches were now empty of the blue water. Only sand and new rocky hills taking its place. On the same shore, a hefty nice looking car crashed. Smoke and fire all over the vehicle.

A girl with white hair crawled out of the car, her right leg broken. She looked like a high school child who was only eighteen years old. Thin but enviable in the right places.

The girl was crying as she crawled. She didn't know what happened, one second they were just driving, but an earthquake came out of nowhere, forcing them to break in the middle of the road and then the sound of the horn came grinding her ears but she got little affected in comparison to her father and mother who were sitting at the front.

And again, to their misfortune, another earthquake hit, more dangerous than before. So much so that the earth started cracking and the buildings near them started falling, one by one. Her father, in panic, hit the gear on the wheel, saving them all from being crushed by the falling buildings.

but a honking truck came out of nowhere, smacking their car to the shores nearby, knocking their child unconscious.

"Aiko….

Aiko!

Aiko!…"

Aiko slowly opened her eyes, the voice of her mother echoing inside her ears. She groaned in a bit of pain as she gazed at her mother and to her horror; she was all bloodied all over. Tears flowing from her eyes, which were eventually covered by the red blood flowing from her head.

"Mom!…" she cried out, trying to go near her, but her seatbelt kept her in.

"Aiko…..dear, don't panic…..listen…listen to me…" she calmly said.

The child had already undone her belt, and tried to come near her mother, but she pushed her back, surprising her.

"Mom…?"

"…..listen to me…get out of the car dear…..your father and I will follow you back…fast…the car is heating already.."

Aiko's tears fell, as her heart couldn't take the situation they were facing and as stubborn as she was, she didn't listen to her, going near her to help her first but again, she pushed her back to her sit.

"Listen to me!….why are you always so stubborn?!…" she scolded. Scaring Aiko. "For just one day….just one day… listen to your mother…." she then pleaded, her tears flowing down like no tomorrow.

Aiko's tears were not stopping at all, but she couldn't rebuke her mother as she was pleading.

"Promise?" Aiko asked.

"Promise my dear…..now go…" her mother said with a kind smile.

She nodded as she gradually went out of the squashed window of the side door.

Her mother watched with a smile and looked back to her front, her gaze then going down…..where half of her lower body already squashed, blood everywhere. She didn't know why she was still conscious after such blood loss or half of her body squashed to paste, but she was glad. Glad that she had enough consciousness to save her daughter.

She looked at her right where her husband was lying in his sit, his eyes still open, but he wasn't talking, he wasn't breathing; he was just lying there with his dead eyes and dead body.

"haa…..I will be joining you my dear…." she said, touching his face.

"okka-san… otto-san….."She said, crying out all the tears from her silver eyes and squeezed herself out the car, still crying, thinking if this was a bad dream.

BOOOM!

The car exploded right after some chucks of metal knocking on her body but she was still ok, her leg bleeding a bit too much.

She looked in front where there was the blue sea on its horizon, but what she could only see were the rocky lands and some hills with lakes in between.

She cared little about it and look back at the destroyed and burning car.

"mom…dad…" she cried again, her heart filled with sorrow and guilt. She could have spent more time with them, but being the rebellious person she was. She just had fun going club and getting drunk, now regretting, if she had spent those times with her always loving family who wanted to celebrate her birthday at the seaside restaurant today.

As she was crying, she saw a comet falling down on the bright day. It was shining red, showing it was close, very close, and she got scared that it would land right at her.

"Noooo!" she cried. She would run away from the location but she couldn't even stand right away as her right leg was out of order but to her hindsight. The comet flew past her, knocking on a tall mountain like hill which had appeared on the shores where there was once the sea.

And it wasn't just a normal crash as the landing was impactful to where the mountain all crashed with the asteroid, giving a sonic wave that even reached her. Jolting her entire being.

"I…is..t..the world…really ending?" she thought in despair. But being awakened from her sorrow, she controlled her heart as she tried standing up, using her remaining leg.

"i… I can do this…..I will survive….for mom and dad.." she said with determination. Sliding off her tears from her eyes. "I will survive… no matter what.."

With that, she walked, using her one leg, towards the mess where it was once a city...

Tragedies like this were happening all over the place, at every corner of the earth. Surviving few, losing their family or friends. Call it misfortune or a bad day, but what happened today was reality. A hard reality that the surviving few had to face as the worst was still to come.
