Chapter 7 It's Not a Pity to Die

In a windless early morning, the whole world was quiet.

Lan Fei walked very fast because she was hungry. Her hand was tightly clenched in her pocket, and there was a hundred yuan in it.

It was from Soong Que.

Gradually, Lan Fei slowed down. She was the only one on the empty street with her breathing and footsteps. This was her own time.

It was hers alone.

It was the moment when she could make her own decisions.

The corners of her mouth curled up and she smiled. She felt not so hungry anymore. When she reached the entrance of the restaurant, Lan Fei was even stunned for a second.

As soon as Lan Fei walked into the in-patient department with a bowl of wondons, she was stopped by a nurse on duty.

"Doctor Lan, where have you been? The one you were looking after fell and got hurt. Boss Lu lost his temper over this."

Her heart sank, and Soong Que's smug face almost floated in front of her.

Lan Fei touched her full stomach. "I'll go up now."

She was too lazy to explain to irrelevant people. The nurse didn't really care for her answer either, and then walked to the nurse station on her own.

"Jishen, don't blame her. It's all my fault. I asked Feifei to go out and buy me a snack."

As soon as she reached the door, Soong Que's choking voice came from inside through the wooden door. It was so pitiful and persuasive that no one would still feel angry after hearing that.

"It's just that I didn't expect her to go out for more than three hours. I... I'm so scared. If anything happens to her, then I..."

"She's a cheap life. It's not a pity even if she died." Lu Jishen's voice was low and hoarse, obviously suppressing the anger.

Her pupils constricted and her heart tightened.

Hehe, her life was so worthless to him?

That made sense, though. She had to depend on him to make a living. Of course, her life wouldn't matter much to him.

Pushing the door open and walking in, Lan Fei raised her hand lightly. "I bought you wondons. You should eat it while it's hot."

The more calm she was, the more furious Lu Jishen became.

"You!"

Lu Jishen stepped forward at a stride and pressed her neck against the wall.

Her back hit the wall with a dull thud. Despite the pain, Lan Fei clenched her teeth without making a sound.

Lu Jishen's eyes lit up. "Didn't I tell you not to leave her at all?"

"Yes." Lan Fei looked at him calmly.

Ever since the day she married him, she had thought of countless possibilities of her being abused by Lu Jishen.

And in the days after that, countless ideas were put into practice by him.

"Jishen, forget it..."

Soong Que's tearful look really fanned the flames. "Although I fell down, I was fine."

"What if you really get hurt?!"

Lu Jishen turned around and roared angrily.

Seeing that he was angry, Soong Que was really happy. Still, she put on a frightened expression and bit her lips while crying in fear.

"Do you know that she fell into the flower bed when she was out to find you? There were several cuts on her waist. If she hurt the child, how would you be able to make up for that?"

Lu Jishen turned around, with a low and hoarse voice, like a fierce leopard biting its prey.

Looking blankly into Lu Jishen's deep eyes, Lan Fei didn't even dodge a bit.

It was less than an hour and a half from the time she left the hospital to the time she was back. The three hours that Soong Que said was far from the truth.

Soong Que was worried about her? That she fell into the flower bed when she was looking for her?

No reasonable person would believe it!

With a self-deprecating smile, Lan Fei said in a faint tone, "I'll make up for her with my life then."

No, she couldn't make up for that.

She still owed Lu Jishen a life.

"You!"

Lan Fei's fair face suddenly turned red and bloodshot as his large palm clenched tightly.

Soong Que opened the lid of the box and scooped wondons with a spoon.

She wasn't trying to ignore what was happening in the room. Instead, she was really hunger for a meal because she was quite satisfied.

"Yes, I can't make up for that, because my life is cheap!"

The clasped hand around her neck forced Lan Fei to have to squeeze the words out of her teeth.

Not to mention Lu Jishen, even Soong Que, who was eating next to him, froze.

Lu Jishen narrowed his eyes dangerously. Why was this woman so arrogant in front of him?

Subconsciously, Lu Jishen loosened his hand and clenched it again. "As long as you know."

Lan Fei closed her eyes helplessly and smiled.

*

At 5: 30 in the morning, it was just getting bright.

The notice of her leave was still attached to the hospital bulletin board. Lan Fei stood in front of it for a long time, opened the window embedded outside, tore off the notice, and threw it into the trash can.

She stayed out all night.

She couldn't remember how Lu Jishen let her go and when he left the hospital.

Or maybe he was still in the ward with Soong Que.

She felt her pocket, and there were still more than 80 left. Lan Fei decided to go to breakfast first and drink a bowl of white porridge to warm herself up.

"Where are the people in this ward?"

When Lan Fei returned, Soong Que was no longer in the ward. The room had been tidied up and everything was so tidy that it looked like it had been checked in before.

"They left 15 minutes ago. Why, aren't you with them?"

Gone?

Lan Fei was stunned. Why didn't anyone inform her?

Right. Who was she? Why would they inform her?

She went to the bathroom to wash her face. Lan Fei stood in front of the mirror and stared at herself in the mirror. She was a little haggard and her face was quite pale.

A woman came out of the back cubicle and looked into the mirror when she was washing her hands.

Looking at each other for a second, Lan Fei frowned. The woman looked familiar, but she couldn't remember who she was.

The woman, on the other hand, was so excited that she rushed over and grabbed Lan Fei by the collar. "Didn't they say you weren't in the hospital? Well, it turns out that all the staff in the entire hospital are frauds."

The shrill voice was as loud as a pig was being slaughtered. Lan Fei was a little dizzy from the noise and was pushed over again, which made her even more dizzy.

"You..." Lan Fei narrowed her eyes as she blocked the woman's hands.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the mirror, and Lan Fei was stunned.

Lu Jishen's face often showed up with this squint. When others saw that, they would be afraid, but she only found it funny.

"Why be so fierce? If everyone is afraid of you, then how can they treat you sincerely?"

She was in a daze when she received a scratch on her face, and the bright red blood stains immediately settled on her white face.

It was so red.

"Who the hell are you?"

Lan Fei was angry, but she was still able to control herself.

She was acting decently, just glaring at the woman.

Oh... She remembered that this was the woman who wanted to eat her alive before.

"What, you still want to renege? I'm telling you, now that I see you, I won't let you go."

The woman sat down on the ground like a child, holding Lan Fei's thigh and refusing to let go.

"Why are you like this?" Lan Fei had never seen this before and couldn't dodge it. She panicked for a moment.

When she got used to this strange tightness, she quickly calmed down.

"What do you want? Spit it out."

"Of course..."

Just as the village woman was about to speak, she caught sight of someone walking by outside and immediately shouted, "Ouch, ouch, ouch. It hurts so much. Help, the doctor is hitting me. My waist is about to be broken."

"Repeat the old trick?"

Lan Fei sneered, grabbed the ceramic hand sanitizer bottle by the sink, and smashed it on her own head.
