Unspeakable Marriage

Chapter 1 To Save the Danger

Night was approaching. There was an accident in the People's Hospital in A City.

"Hurry up! The pregnant woman's amniotic fluid broke, and the baby was born a month earlier. She was bleeding heavily. The mother and baby are in danger if not resuscitated!"

In the emergency passage, a few nurses pushed the emergency bed, nervously describing the situation.

The pregnant woman on the bed was in a coma. She was almost unconscious. Half of the white sheets under her body were soaked in blood like peonies blooming.

Behind her were a few of her panicky and worried family members.

The maternity assistant said loudly, "Go and inform Doctor Lan! She's only just returned from abroad and is the most experienced obstetrician and gynecologist!"

Before informing Lan Fei, hurried footsteps came up from the end of the corridor.

Lan Fei had just finished her shift. Before she could take a rest, she was informed that there was an emergency dystocia in the hospital.

She hurriedly took off her white coat, tied her curly hair into a ponytail and put on a mask. Then she stepped on high heels that she didn't have time to change.

She checked the condition of the pregnant woman with the utmost calmness and gave instructions in an orderly manner.

"The woman's temperature is rising. She is unconscious and bleeding profusely. Send her to the operating room immediately! Get ready for the anesthesia for the c-section!"

When the maternity assistant saw her, she heaved a sigh of relief and hurried to the operating room with the nurse.

Lan Fei was about to enter the operating room for disinfection.

But her arm was suddenly pulled. "You're Lan Fei!"

It was not a question, but an affirmation.

The man who pulled her was the pregnant woman's husband, wearing half-rimmed glasses and looking like a svelte man of sorts. Lan Fei paused and glanced at him. She was sure that she had never crossed paths with him.

"Your wife is going to have an operation right now. We'll talk about it after the operation."

She waved his hand away, but the man had no intention of letting her go. He grimaced, his eyes filling with blood. "You are not allowed to operate on my wife!"

The crowd gulped and did not understand the man's words.

Lan Fei didn't want to talk with him, but simply said, "The patient's condition is very dangerous. If we don't operate and delay the best treatment time, we won't be able to save her and the baby!"

Everyone's expressions changed, The man, however, strained his neck, his face fierce and unusually insistent.

"You've treated people to death! And you're going abroad to avoid responsibility! I don't want a doctor like you to give birth to my wife! If anything happens to my wife, I'll kill you!"

It had been three years since the incident, but Lan Fei didn't think anyone would remember.

The operation was an accident. She clearly remembered that when she left the operating room, the patient's physical signs were good and there was no danger.

But not long after the patient returned to the ICU, the patient lost his vital signs.

At that time, the public opinion was all against her, thinking that she had lost her medical ethics and did not possess the professional qualities a doctor should have.

Her whole life was in a quagmire, and it was hard for her to pull herself together even if she put a lot of work into it.

Because of this, she lost her life's happiness.

During her three years abroad, she studied hard and thought back on the operation.

She had encountered more than ten cases similar to her illness at the time, but every time, the patient was fine.

This was not just a medical accident, but also a scar that was hard to heal in her heart.

Behind her, there were continuous discussions, and even some people cursed.

"What kind of hospital is this? Isn't it obviously harmful to let an unscrupulous doctor has treated people to death to to save my daughter?"

"I want to find the dean! This hospital must compensate us for the loss!"

"Get us a new doctor!"

The protest grew louder.

The crowd's objections and doubts surged like a tidal wave, surrounding Lan Fei and making her stand still.

Lan Fei was so anxious. The pregnant woman was still waiting for her in the operating theatre, and if she took too long, it could lead to the death of both mother and baby.

She looked at the increasingly agitated crowd and took a deep breath, almost pleading.

"Everyone, be quiet! If you don't believe me, I can take any risk of the operation!"

Lan Fei's words put herself in an awkard situation. The nurse beside her had already anixous, "Doctor Lan, there are naturally risks involved in performing surgery. Why do you..."

The nurse thought, "Why do you take responsibility on your own shoulders?"

Prior to the operation, an agreement was usually signed to exempt the hospital from responsibility, indicating that the operation was voluntary.

But if she did that, wouldn't she be caught in the act?

The doctor-patient relationship was so tense. Wasn't Lan Fei pushing herself to the corner?

Lan Fei shook her head. Her eyes, which were like deep pools, were filled with sadness. Her fair skin, which was as fair as porcelain, was stained with a thin layer of transparent red because of her anxiety.

Her voice was also a little hoarse. "If we don't operate, the patient's condition will be very dangerous. I'm a doctor. I can't let her die!"

However, the family members were more and more unsatisfied when they heard her guarantee.

The patient's husband almost came up and hit her. "Change the doctor! I don't want you to have an operation! You're a quack!"

"Yes! Quack gets out! Don't harass us again for surgery!"

"Get out!"

There were already many relatives in the female family, and the onlookers who didn't know the truth were also making a fuss. The scene was extremely chaotic.

Lan Fei seemed to have been cast a spell, and her whole body was as stiff as wood, without any warmth.

Her fists under the white coat clenched and loosened.

She raised her head, her eyes filled with helplessness and despair. "Please, let me try..."

There was already resentment in the crowd. When they saw that she was lowering her head and her posture was extremely low, they became even more furious.

Just then, a cold voice broke the noise.

"Give her a chance."

At the end of the corridor, a burly man stood there, dressed in a handmade suit, his face as sharp as a knife.

The whole person is cold and serious, exuding an aura of fearful coolness.

Like a thief caught red-handed, Lan Fei's eyes dropped and her hands and feet didn't know where to put them.

Lu Jishen frowned and walked towards her with steady steps. His face was expressionless, but there was a chill in it.

There was a dead silence all around.

His aura was appalling, and his brows were knitted in a serious manner. He swept a glance at the crowd and said coldly, "If the operation is delayed and someone dies, which one of you will be responsible?"

Everyone looked at each other and looked at the patient's husband.

The man felt guilty of a moment and full of dissatisfaction. "Even if my wife dies, I don't want this woman to have an operation!"

"Really?"

Lu Jishen sneered with a deep light in his eyes. "You would rather have your wife and baby die than be treated by a doctor. What are you doing?"

When these words came out, murmurs arose and a cold sternness erupted from the bottom of Lu Jishen's eyes, like the King of Hell, making people afraid.

"I, I didn't..."

The man wanted to explain, but he couldn't.

Everyone seemed to understand a little. Lu Jishen said, "I'm in charge of anything that happened during the operation today."

He looked at Lan Fei, who was still in a daze, and said coldly, "Hurry up!"

Lan Fei snapped back to her senses, gave him a grateful look and ran towards the operating room.

Not having had time to say thank you, she held back from turning around.

Lu Jishen was her nominal husband.

Three years ago, the woman who died in the ICU was his wife.

She owed a life, so she had to pay it back.

But now, when would she be able to repay the favour?

As she closed the operating theatre door, she looked out through the window and saw that he had disappeared. She felt upset, sighed slightly and walked inside.
