Chapter 18 - Devin

Being Monday, today was a day off for most of the pack.  Monday is our day of rest and communion with the Goddess, since Monday is named for the moon.  It's the reason that the word “Monday” is derived from the word “moon” in many languages (e.g., lunes in Spanish, montag in German, lunedi in Italian, etc.).  So it wasn’t a problem when I sleep until 10.  When I wake, Xander is there beside me.  He stretches and yawns before opening his beautiful chocolate-colored eyes.  When he sees me, a lazy smile crosses his face.

“Hey, babe,” he says, wrapping his arms around me.

“Good morning,” I say, unable to stop the smile on my face.

Xander leans in to kiss me, his body cuddling to mine.  I feel his morning erection on my stomach and get lost in his touch.

Suddenly, I remember the events of last night.  I quickly pull away, my face filled with shock, urgency, and determination.

 “What’s wrong?” Xander asks, surprised.

“Something happened last night,” I say.

“Oh, babe, I know.  Something happened several times last night,” Xander says, seductively.  He leans into my neck and begins nuzzling and kissing where his matemark will go in one day.  “It’s about to happen again.

“No, wait, Xander…” I say weakly already responding to his touch.  “I have something important to tell you.
“Mmmmm,” he says, pushing me onto my back and moving down my body.
“Can it wait, like a half hour?

 “No,” I struggle out.

“You’re right.  It will probably be more like an hour,” Xander says, his mouth trailing kisses down my body to my dick.

Oh, Goddess! I internally groan.  That exclamation reminds me that I’ve got a lot to do this morning.  I grab Xander’s head and pull him up to look at me.

“What the hell - “ Xander starts.

“Xander, I met the Goddess last night!

It takes me a while to explain things to Xander and I can tell that he doesn’t completely believe me.
I mean, I get it.  This shit is pretty unbelievable.  I decide to mindlink the Oracle.  I really need to check on her anyway.

Oracle? I say hesitantly into her mind.

Yes, Gamma.  I am here. Her inner voice sounds exhausted and somewhat weak.

How are you after last night?

Just tired, Gamma.  Thank you for asking.  Is there anything that I can do for you?

Do you remember anything from last night?

I remember all, Gamma.  I was there, just pushed to the background.

Would you be able to help me convince my mate?  I kind of need his help in all of this.

Of course.  But would it be ok if we used the phone?  It is taking a lot of energy to mindlink at the moment.  I don’t think that I’d be able to do a three-way call, so to speak.

Absolutely.  I’ll call you.  I shut down the link and grab my cell.  Putting it on speaker, we wait for the phone to ring on the other side.

“Gamma.  Gamma mate,” the Oracle greets us.  Her voice sounds just as exhausted as it did in her mind.

“Please call me Devin,” I say.

“And I’m Xander,” he says, sitting on my lap as we talk on the phone.  It was an almost unconscious thing for him to sit there, but I couldn’t be happier by the small intimacy.

“Then I am Lucille.” she replies, a hint of a smile in her voice.  “I hear that you, Xander, don’t quite know what to make of our little visitation last night.

“Wait, so it’s true?  We have another mate?  There will be a war?  The Goddess promised to heal my mom?”  At the last, Xander’s breath catches and I see tears in his eyes.  I pull his head down and kiss him softly.

“Yes, Xander.  It is all true.  The Goddess has great plans for all of you.  Praise to Our Silver Lady,” Lucille answers.

“Praise to The Mother Of Us All,” Xander and I recite immediately.

“How is this even possible?” Xander asks.

I shrug my shoulders.  “I have no idea.  I’ve never heard of having two mates.  Now our pack has two of them.

“You have much to learn.  Our Alpha and Luna can fill you in when you meet them,” Lucille says.

“She told us to go after lunch, right?” Xander asks me.

“Yeah,” I respond, nodding my head. “She said that they were having a ‘busy night’ with Brandon, whatever that means.

Xander chuckles.  “They were probably up to the same thing that we were last night.

“Oh,” I say.  I mean, what do you say to that?

“Well, it seems as if we have time then,” Lucille says.  “I’m going to rest a bit more.  If you need me, feel free to call or come to my cabin.  I don’t think I could make it to the packhouse today.

“Lucille, are you sure you are ok by yourself?  One of us or an omega can come to care for you,” I say.

“No, no,” she says dismissively.  “I just don’t think I could make the walk to the packhouse.  I have food and can care for myself out here.  Call me if you need me.

“Ok, Lucille.  We’ll speak with you soon.”  With that, I hang up the phone.

“So, we can’t do anything about this until after lunch?” Xander says.

“No.  The Goddess specifically said to give them some time,” I say, tossing my phone to the couch across the room.

“Sooooo, we’ve got some time,” Xander says, cheekily.

I can’t help but smile.  “Yeah, we’ve got about three hours.

With an exaggerated sigh and an exasperated tone, Xander says, “Well.  I guess I can speed through some of the foreplay.

I laugh and push him off of my lap.  I lean back onto the bed, my hands crossed behind my head.  “Then you better get my cock in your mouth quickly.

A seductive smile spreads across his face and he pounces on me.
