Chapter 2

Her eyes focused on the sea. She heaves in a huge amount of air.

Captain Slate stood like a man, her hands placed behind her back. "Any news from out there Mr. Sailor?" She speaks with her voice aloud, the crew was alarmed with her tune turning their heads at her.

Mr. Sailor leaned at the edge of the crow's nest to look down, reporting to his Captain. "Still nothing to be seen, my Captain. They must've taken another way!" He replied in disappointment.

She didn't look up at him, instead, she just focused her eyes at the waves from afar. Her jaws clenched and her fists balled causing her leather gloves to make a sound.

Mr. William stood beside her before leaning down to whisper, "Captain, if I might disturb..."

She sighed, not looking back at his quartermaster as she asked, "What is it that you are here to disturb me for?" Her voice was so monotoned.

Mr. William bowed once, "I have thought of a better idea." He spoke.

Joana became intrigued about this, so she turned her head to look up at William. "What on sea are you talking about? Spit it out, Mr. Quarter." Her voice deeply alarmed his righthand man.

"They have stolen our loots, haven't they?" William asked reminded.

The Captain was pissed off, "Mr. Quarter, if you would also let me disturb you, Sir." She faced her body to him, raised her chin as she narrowed her dangerous eyes, "You well know that every time I set foot on the sea means that every second count. Every wave is a thousand dollars, every half an hour is a hundred dollars so, please! If you're going to say something, spit the jolly good roger stuck on your tongue out immediately."

William knew she was temper mental. She became like this since her father died. She didn't care whether anyone would like her attitude or not. Joana has changed a lot.

But because he loves her very much, William swallowed his pride, nor did he not care about others seeing him getting scolded by a younger one.

He clears his throat, "It's too late to catch up to them is what I'm saying."

She furrowed her brows at him.

"So, what I am saying is, why not we also take what's theirs?" Mr. Quarter suggested. "It's a fair-fair situation, isn't it, my captain?" He raises his chin, still his eyes on the small Joana.

The young captain, on the other side, hated when her Quartermaster is right.

If her dad didn't say to take good care of William, she would've thrown him off the plank.

She also cleared her throat, the whole crew looking at them both.

She deepens her tune, making sure she won't scream in annoyance. Once checked, she clicked her heels on the ground before speaking, "Where is he then?"

"He will be in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to collect his stolen goods in two days, at 6 am sharp," William replies confidently. "However, he will stop over St. Kitts, West Indies for a short while first."

"Where did you get that information?" She asks again, eyeing him.

"A good friend of mine in Dominica overheard them talking and sent a message through our men earlier to give it to me." He gives her a wide grin.

"Then why did you just report to me now?" Joana never questions his right-hand, but she can't just let this go.

William places his hands behind his back, bending down to level her height, "I first made sure, Captain, that all is well. As soon as I received the letter, I checked the map and prepared everything for you."

The Captain thought.

"See, if we stop following them now, but instead take full speed ahead to Cabo Rojo, we will arrive there in no time. Wasting no more sea time, we can prepare some baits, renew our swords, reload our canons and refurnish 'Theorisa'. By the time they'll come, everything will be set. We can take back our loot, then we still take theirs." He smirks. "It won't be a win-win situation, Captain. But it will be victory for us." His deep tune tickled her ears, convinced that he was right although she hated it when his quartermaster had better plans.

Captain Jonathan thought. She looked up the sky before closing her eyes as she sighed.

I lost, yet again. She told herself.

Joana sighs, "Change course."

William felt proud that he made her agree. A smile was about to appear, but he kept his victory to himself. He cleared his throat again.

"Thank you, Captain." He bows.

Her hands clenched before turning to face her crew, "MEN!" She called and everyone stopped what they were doing and listened to their Captain.

"Change course!" She raises her voice, "WE ARE GOING TO CABO ROJO, PUERTO RICO."

Her men, although sometimes worries about her, always respected and looked up to their captain.

Silence filled the ship for a second, the waves only to be heard.

She furrows her brows, "ONCE WE GET THERE EARLY YOU GET ONE REST DAY—"

"YEEEEHHHHH!"

She was cut by her men's loud cheer of joy when they all heard that they're going to have a one-day break. It was rare for them to receive such rest, and they should make sure they get their reward.

Although Joana should be angry, she surprisingly smiled seeing her crew in joy.

"NOW LISTEN, ME CREW!"

Obedient as they are, immediately became quiet and all ears to their captain.

"WE ARE GOING TO PLAN EVERYTHING OUT PERFECTLY." She started. "I WILL HAVE MY CONNECTIONS THERE, TAKE OUR RIGHTFUL LOOTS AND USE THEM TO PREPARE FOR CAPTAIN NICKOLAS THORNE’S ARRIVAL. WE ARE GOING TO TAKE WHAT'S THEIRS... And what's ours..."

"YEEHHHHH!"

A loud cheer once again came from the men. Excited for their new adventure.

"ON MY FATHER'S BEHALF, I, JONATHAN SLATE, SON OF HAROLD SLATE, WILL REVENGE FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE!"

Theorisa, Captain's ship, was filled with all their encouraging cheers. Everyone wanted to avenge for Harold Slate, the one who helped them all.

"NOW BRING A SPRING UPON HER CABLE!” She commanded
