- ASHLEY -

Our next class was foreign languages, my besties and I took the exact same

class did you ask

what class it is-wait, didn't? I am telling you either ways. KOREAN!

Ha! You expected us to take Spanish? Well boo yah, we love Korea alot.

Wait I don't get it why am talking to myself I am such a weirdo.

"Guys quick we will be late for Mr. Oh's class" Carmen said dragging us to

class.

Mr. Oh's class seemed to be dragging on forever, it usually one of my favourite

classes. But

today the class dragged. I was lost in my own little bubble, in a world were it

wasn't really

adopted, wasn't a legitimate heir to any dumb company. I was so normal, I liked

it, my place of

complete solace.

In this world..my world, I had a friend, her name is Brietta. Although I

haven't seen her before,

her voice brings me this unexplainable comfort, I tell her everything i feel,

think, and know and

somehow she understands and gives me the best advice. I do not know what she

looks like, but

I feel like I have known her my whole life.

I remember the first time I began to talk to her. I was about four or five

years old, I can't really

remember. But I knew it was at a launching party for one of dad's project. I

remember pouting at

Grandma, as she put a pink frilly, hair band on my hair. She smiled warmly at

me, with her clear

grey eyes, it always looked at me with warmth and love, something I had never

seen in dad's

similar grey eyes.

"Must I go, Nana? It will be full of adults , no one to play with, it would be

boring" I said.

She laughed, "oh no Sweetie, it's a big day for your daddy, you must go" she

replied.

"If it's such a big day, then why aren't you coming with us Nana?" I said

tilting my head in

confusion. Her smile wavered but never left.

"I have something to do here, something very important, I can't miss it" she

said. I didn't notice

it then, but she looked really sad.

"Come now baby, we must go" mom said interrupting our conversation. Mom smiled,

but it

wasn't real, it didn't look like the one she smiled when she closed a deal, or

when she finishes a

project. Even in my tiny mind, I knew, I knew too well, that she didn't love me

enough.

When we got to the party after waving Nana goodbye, I was abandoned by mom. She

looked

happy interacting with her business partners and obviously didn't want to talk

to me. I knew not

to interrupt, so I sat at the at the deepest, darkest corner where I won't be

seen, but I could see

so I'd know when it was time to leave.

I picked at my nails, sighing, I scratched the tip of my nose, all in boredom.

"Are you that bored?" That was how I heard her voice for the first time. I

looked around scared.

"Who.. who is there?" I asked stuttering.

I felt her roll her eyes, I don't know how but I did.

"I didn't know you were a scaredy cat ash-ash"

"My name is Ashley, and I would call my mommy and daddy for you if you try to

hurt me, my

voice is pretty loud" I said firmly.

"Relax, I'm inside you, like I'm one with you" she said.

My brows dipped in confusion, I didn't understand. Suddenly a light bulb went

off in my head.

"Like an imaginary friend!" I exclaimed excitedly, I always wanted one of

those.

"Wait what?" She asked irritatedly. But I was far gone, imagining the tea

parties I'd have with

my new friend.

"You know what? Nevermind.. I'm your imaginary friend" she said sighing.

" Nice to meet you imaginary friend, my name is Ashley Monroe, what's yours?" I

asked smiling.

"Brietta, just Brietta" she said in a bored tone.

I didn't like her tone, but I liked having an imaginary friend.

Even when dad called me Amelia, or when Mom scolded me for sitting on the floor

with the

expensive ball gown, I didn't cry, I just wanted to go to my room and have a

conversation with

my Brietta. I never told anyone about her, she is my safe haven, my shelter

from everything the

world had in store for me.

"Brietta..Brietta.." I called out into my mind.

"Ugghh you are so loud" she whined like she does every time she hears my voice.

"Awwn but you love me anyway" I cooed. I felt her roll her eyes again. Typical.

"You are supposed to be in class ash-ash" she reprimanded with that stupid

nickname.

I was about to retort when someone slammed the door, shaking me from my sweet

conversation, I looked up in annoyance to find a very tall, student looming

over the door with a

scowl on his face. He scanned the class with his Forest green eyes, I was

taken aback by his.

Finally his eyes found mine and shock was written all over his face.

"If you don't mind young man I have a class going on" Mr. Oh tried to Forrest

green.

From my mind I could hear Brietta squeal just likevmy class mates.

"Sorry sir, I think I came to the wrong class but I would love to switch to

this class uhhh what

class is this?" Forrest eyes looked awkward, scratching his left ear. At the

sound of his voice

Brietta squealed so loud, I thought the noise came out of my mouth.

"This is Korean, mister?".

"Mister Lloyds, Archer Lloyds" seemingly ready to bolt to the new seat.

"Ok class, meet your new classmate, Archer Lloyds" Mr. Oh must have been very

happy for he

didn't get much students into his class. Archer practically ran to the empty

seat behind me,

making all my friends; imaginetive and real to go ballistic. I felt pnpricks on

my neck, the feeling

I get when people stare a bill too long at me. I could call it a talent.

I felt the pinpricks till Mr. Oh's class ended, I practically flew out of my

seat, to my car. I didn't

like the way Forrest green or Archer stared at me throughout class. Even after

hearing my best

friend scream my name I couldn't stop, even when Brietta told me to go back or

else she would

be mad, I convinced myself she wasn't real till I got to another haven; my car

and waited for my

best friends.
