Chapter 6

Chapter 6

The night had come and I still couldn't believe I was getting married to a man I had just met and of course I have no right to reject tradition because I am just a princess. I was reminded of the words of Prince Brennon during our last conversation with a woman who was very much in love with her. If they were in love with that woman and knew she was going to marry someone else, it would probably hurt her. I'm not good at love but I think that's the case. I took a deep breath and looked at myself in the mirror.

The two maidservants were almost done to arrange my hair because it was only a matter of time before the ceremony for Prince Brennon's arrival at the palace and also my birthday party. I still wore my white robe, they braided my hair properly and they put light make up on my face. They stood me up after they had fixed me and had me straight in front of my bed where I could wear my ball gown for the night. The ball gown is a colored white with a slightly off-shoulder design, with small floral designs, a butterfly on the skirt, and small ribbon lace on the back of the corset.

They help me wear it because it was huge in the skirt part and heavy but I need to wear it. When they put on my ball gown I had to maintain my breathing properly because they had to tighten the corset a little bit just to get out of my body shape.

“Are you okay, princess?” One of them asked me.

I slightly nodded at her and face again to the mirror. I feel like I can’t breathe anymore but I had to maintain, this is one I hate being a princess, it's not obvious that I'm having a hard time with my dress because of the makeup and my elegant clothes now that I'm covered and not show my pain.

When we finished dressing me up, fixing me, they opened me a door and helped hold the end of the skirt so I could walk properly. From the hallway, we hear the music below the hall where my birthday celebration will take place.

“Wait, my princess.” One of them said and goes back to my room.

We wait for a while, and then she came back, now holding my white and gold masquerade mask with small feathers on the left side.

I was shocked that I almost forgot that too and thankfully the servant knows what else is missing. When she got closer she handed me the mask and I immediately put on my face before we started to walk again.

When we got to the stairs I saw my family waiting there, they were dressed up too; I saw the joy on Princess Valerie's face and the smile on my dad's lips. I look like they are happy too as me and I automatically look at the boy with the same thing as wearing a masquerade mask but the color combination is black and gold on him. Even though he was dressed up and wearing masquerade mask I knew he was Prince Brennon and he was handsome but I not going to tell him that.

When I came down Princess Valerie approached me and holds my hands, "you look, beautiful princess," she giggled and she was wearing an old-rose colored masquerade mask. Wearing a pink ball gown with short sleeves and little butterfly wings at the back.

I laughed, “yeah I know.

“Come on so the celebration to begin and it was obvious they were waiting in the hall.” My mother said. They had to leave first and my mom kissed me on the cheek before they left.

I look again at prince Brennon and smile shyly at me.

“Happy birthday,” he offered me his arm and I immediately grabbed him for his support.

“Thank you,” I said while we walked to the main door. We stop down and the noise got even louder as we stopped at the main door. At the same time, the noise inside the hall also caused my heart beating too fast because of nervousness.

“Don’t be nervous,” he said.

I look at him with my brow arched, “what?

He points my hand on his arms pinching him using his lips and I look at my hand.

I calm myself and also my hands, “I’m sorry,” I don’t know that I am nervous that I don’t know that I’m hurting him.

“It’s fine as long as you make you calm.

I look away and he added more nervous the way he acts. I think because of his concern that way all the girls fall in love with him and that's easy, who wouldn't fall in love with him? I think I am.

“... Princess Russiana.” The announcer said in and that moment they opened now the door for us.

I was amazed at the appearance of the hall and how beautiful it was as if I was in a fairy tale. There were flowers in the chandelier and white and gold throughout the hall. There were a long table and drink that was almost my favorite. There is a white cake in the middle with four layers and design flowers and edible coated gold. Many visitors are wearing their elegant dresses and masquerade masks I hardly even know there; maybe they are family friends who come from known families and different kingdoms near Avalon.

White flowers are also spread in every corner to make the place more beautiful. If Prince Brennon hadn't pulled me before I would have come in and thanked him. Maybe he's used to these kinds of things and big celebrations.

“Let’s watch the first dance of our princess Russiana with her prince Brennon,” my mother announced.

We walked to the very center of the dance floor. He parted from me a bit and I heard a gentle tune for the first dance. He leaned down slightly as he offered his hand to me and smiling.

"May I have this dance milady?"

I gave him my hand, "yes, you can."

He put my arms around his shoulders and held our two free hands and then we danced to the accompaniment of a gentle tune.
