"Lexi! Lexi! Lexi!" I heard my sister's voice from far away, I was in a dream

"Lexi aren't you going to work?"

"Yes" I answered sluggishly

"Aren't you going to work?"

"I'm going. I will go"

"You are going to be late"

Last night came back to me and I checked the room instantly for Jason, who was gone

"You are welcome. I will be on my way now"

"Oh Lexi!"

"We're out of groceries, so make sure to get some on your way back home. The money is on the table"

"I might come home late. So maybe you should get it instead"

"You going out with Peter?"

"No. I and Peter are no longer a couple"

"What! What happened?" Since when?"

"We just decided to break up since we are no longer feeling it"

"That explains why I've not been seeing him around. Since when?"

I set my alarm to ten am and went back to sleep

"Are you feeling better now?"

That question caught me off guard but I thanked God that I was able to give the right answer

"Yeah, thank you"

"You are welcome. And Mr Stokes said you should come to his office as soon as you are around"

I went to my office to drop my bag before knocking on his.

"How was your night?" He asked and smirked

"You can go back to your office"

"But Jada told me you wanted to see me"

'Asshole' I murmured "Ok sir"

"Oh, wait Lexi. I want the files you are through with in my office as soon as possible"

"Okay sir"

"And nice skirt" he added

"Thanks" I replied

I met up with Stephanie during lunch and ordered only Coke because I ate my breakfast late

"I heard you weren't feeling well"

"Wow! the rate at which information moves in this company is faster than a jet"

"True, and how are you feeling now"

"Better" I took some drugs and came to office as soon as I was strong enough"

"You want some?" She asked, passing me her fries

"No thanks"

"Is it true that Dixie is coming tomorrow?"

"Dixie? Who is that?"

"Mr Stokes's girlfriend"

"Where do you get that information from?"

"Stop being too professional. There is no secret in this company unless you pretend not to know"

I couldn't get over the fact that someone namely Jada was given out information about Mr Stokes to the other employees. Because if that wasn't the case, how could Stephanie knows about Dixie's appointment tomorrow afternoon and how did she knows about I being sick this morning.

I was walking angrily to Jada's office to talk senses into her brain when my phone vibrated inside my purse.

"Peter" I said quietly and wondered why he was calling me.

"Hello"

"Lexi"

"Yes Peter"

"How are you?"

"Fine, you?"

"Okay. I'm just checking on you"

"Thank you"

"And I'm wondering if it is possible for us to meet this evening"

I changed my direction and went to my office instead

"Peter, this is the first time you will be calling me in three weeks and the next thing you want is for us to meet up. Peter, who does that? Huh, who does that?"

"I'm sorry Lexi, I'm sorry for not calling you. I've actually wanted to but I was thinking you would"

"Why would you think I would?"

"I'm sorry. Let's meet this evening, let's talk things out. You mean so much to me"

"Okay. Seven. You will be picking me up at home"

"Okay bye. Love you"

"Bye"

I hung up the phone and almost screamed when I realized that I wasn't alone in the office

"You scared me"

"I didn't mean to, I'm sorry"

"Since when have you been here?"

"Not long ago"

"What can I do for you sir?"

"I want you to go through these files" he said while pointing at some files that were on my table

"Okay"

"And I want them on my table first thing tomorrow morning"

"Okay sir"

I was through with the files by 5:55pm, and I decided to drop them on his table before leaving.

I opened the adjoining door with an I don't care attitude because I knew he left about an hour ago and fell from the shock of seeing him on his seat.

"You okay?"

"Yeah thank you. I didn't know you are still around" I said while packing the files

"I came back not long ago"

"I just wanted to drop the files"

"Okay. Drop it"

I dropped it on the table, said my bye and turned back to leave when he called me back

"Lexi!"

"Yes"

"Do you mind spending some more time with me in the office?"

"I will really love to but I have to go"

"To do what?"

"To buy the groceries. My sister sent me to the grocery store"

"I can take you there when I'm through"

"That is so kind of you, but I don't want to be a burden. I will like to go by myself"

I texted Cynthia on my way home

'Peter called. He want us to talk if we can work things out'

'Really? Why now?'

'I'm curious as well. We are going to meet this evening'

'Will you give him a second chance if he is really ready to give you what you want?'

'I heard he has a girlfriend. I don't know which to believe, because he said he doesn't and he isn't even ready for a serious relationship'

'Believe him. People like him don't lie. Why will he? He has money, connections, so, why will he be lying to someone like you'

My phone rang a few seconds later

"I knew you were going to call"

"So, what really happened?"

"We were texting each other, he stopped texting me and thirty minutes later, he was knocking on my window"

"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Lexi this guy really gat a thing for you. That was so hot. I wish I was there"

"And Judith almost caught us"

"Because you guys were making too much of noise"

"I told her I ran into a wall on my way to the restroom" I said and laughed at the memory
