4. Their Moment

~•You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams•~

Kara stared at him in disbelief. What's with this man, huh! For just a stupid reason he missed his supper.

"You will never change. Go and freshen up, till then I will prepare something for you."

"Really!" Daniel's eyes gleamed, like a kid who got his favourite candies. "Okay then I'll go and come in five."

Daniel picked up his bag and strode upstairs to their bedroom while Kara walked to the kitchen.

Kara ducked into the fridge and found the stored the roasted chicken. She made a mental note to thank Mrs. Jones in the morning for this extra chicken and saving her time.

She debated with herself whether to serve it to Daniel or not. He wanted to have something made by her. Finally, after five minute struggle she decided to make something special for him in the morning. She quickly transferred roasted chicken into a tray and put it in the microwave.

Kara was leaning on the counter, tapping her feet, when a pair of arms skirted around her waist over her silky night dress, making her all startled. She gasped in surprise, but soon sensing the familiar touch she heaved a large breath and relaxed.

Daniel came downstairs in a plain blue coloured T-shirt and black pajamas, and was tempted by the sight in front of him. His wife was in the kitchen cooking for him. What's more he could wish for? These small-small moments with her made him content and feel loved.

He nuzzled his face in Kara's hair. And his nostrils filled with his favourite smell―his Kara’s fragrance.

"You scared me," Kara breathed in relief and glanced at him above her shoulder.

Daniel's grip on her waist tightened, pulling her more to him.

"That was the plan, baby," he lightly chuckled.

And his slow movement near her nape did nothing but only created a shivering sensation in her body. She closed her eyes and bit her inner cheeks controlling her moans.

"Daniel . . . please. Don't distract me," Kara somehow successfully formed a complete sentence, struggling greatly to come out of his hold. His proximity is creating havoc inside her. It was surprising to her that even after so many days or rather years of their being together; he still made her feel like a teenage school girl.

Daniel shifted her hair from her left shoulder to the other and nestled his face, leaving a kiss at the junction.

"What? I'm not disturbing you," Daniel said with a mischievous smirk. "You do your work and let me do mine."

"Are you really hungry?" She asked, seeing his behaviour. "Because I don't think so."

"I am but not for food anymore." Daniel breathed in her ear, and then tucked her earlobe between his teeth, sending a pleasurable shiver to her nerves.

"Stop being so romantic," Kara chided. Removing his hands from her waist, she stepped out of his hold, but only to get into his clutches again.

"Stop there otherwise I will make sure that you have the burnt chicken," Kara spoke, staring at the oven as it went buzzing off.

Kara scrambled away from him before he could stop her.

“I can have in place of that,” Daniel protested, trying to get her back in his arms. He flew all the way to her so that he could keep her near to his heart.

“That’s too cheesy, Mister,” she laughed. “You sure, you are attending some MBA program not poetic seminar.

Luckily the chicken appeared fine. Kara served the chicken on a plate and set the dishes in front of Daniel who sat on a bar stool and gazed at her intently. Kara filled two glasses with white wine and joined him.

"Mmm . . ." Daniel moaned chewing the first piece of the grilled chicken. "Damn, it tastes delicious woman. That's why I never regretted marrying you."

"What?" Kara scowled. "You married me only for food."

"Of course," Daniel muttered, still busy in his chicken.

"You are so mean. Few minutes before you were all romantic and see now. A total dubious personality, you are.” She sipped her wine. “And for your kind information, I didn't prepare this. It was Mrs. Jones, so go and say these lines to her."

Mrs. Jones was Kara's housekeeper. For the last two years she was working with Kara.

"Oops!" Daniel laughed and then looked at Kara who was glaring down at him, slightly twirling the glass making the wine spin..

"Aw, my baby. . ." He pulled her cheek while she slapped his hand and deepened her scowl. "You look so cute when you get angry.” He tapped the back of his fork at the tip of her nose. “I mean your little nose gets red along with your cheeks."

“Shut up.” Kara playfully smacked his shoulder. He gave her a half scowl, looking around the hall.

"Baby, where is Munchkin? How she is doing?" he asked curiously.

"Sleeping. What else she'll do at this time? But she has become very naughty, and all this is only because of you," Kara complained, sending an accusing glare in his way.

"C'mon, what did I do?" Daniel put an upright face like he was the last innocent person in this world.

Kara shook her head and picked up his empty dishes then placed them in the basin.

"Leave it. Mrs. Jones will do it in the morning," Daniel insisted, eyeing her cleaning his dishes. "Why had I appointed her when you'll do all the work?"

"It's not much, Daniel. See, it's done," Kara replied, drying the dishes and placed them in the cabinet.

Daniel held Kara by her arm and pulled her towards him. She gasped and crashed into his broad chest. She chinned up and stared into his dark chocolaty eyes, it was floating with emotions.

Love.

Admiration.

This was all she could see in them.

Daniel circled his arms round her waist. "For two months . . . two damn months I had stayed away from you. Now I'm not going to leave you." His voice was deep and commanding. He leaned towards her nape and his warm breaths fall over Kara's cold skin, making her quiver.

Oh, how much Kara loved his being this close to her.

And how much Daniel loved making her shiver with his closeness.

"Copy, paste, enter!" Kara cheered breaking their moment.

"Witty, Mrs. Steel, are we?" Daniel gave a boyish smile and his cheeks sank in.

‘That, that look could make any girl fall for him,’ Kara smiled back at him.

Kara snaked her arms around Daniel's neck, ruffling his hair. She without any further delay placed her lips on his, sealing them, obliterating the high building charges between them. Her soft lips touched his hard ones. Daniel clutched her waist tighter kissing her back. Taking her lips in his mouth. He could taste her in his mouth. And his nostrils were filled with his favourite smell―his Kara.

Kara tugged his hair and moaned into his mouth. Totally forgetting the world. The kiss was hard and filled with passion. Like two hungry people came in contact. And all the butterflies in her stomach set free. Flying high in the air and taking her with them. She felt light-hearted and was at ease.

Daniel pulled Kara more to him, if it was possible. Her body was pressed hard against his while she ran her hands over the back of his neck, then again through his hair, clutching it harder than before. They kissed and kissed, again and again, pouring all their desperation and distress in those kisses. They were chewing and tugging each other while fighting for domination.

Daniel ran his arms over Kara's back to down her butt, squeezing it. She moaned into his mouth and let him take over the kiss. She wholeheartedly and wilfully surrendered to him.

It was never easy to be away from your loved ones. Nevertheless, as Charles Dickens had said, the pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.

Kara pulled out of the kiss feeling breathless and rested her forehead against Daniel.

Daniel breathed heavy and scooped Kara in his arms, walking up the stairs to their bedroom. He laid her on the bed and then pulling back, he shut the door.

Kara rolled to the other side and stared at Daniel as tugs his T-shirt over his head. Perfectly sculptured body. Broad muscles. Muscular arms. She gulped a huge lump that formed in her throat. She felt hot and giddy with need.

The platinum ring dangling around in his neck shined and brought a sweet smile on her face. Their wedding ring. The symbol of their vows to cherish each other till they breathe their last breath. The symbol of their commitment. Only she knew how much she had to persuade him to remove it from his finger. He wasn't ready to hear anyone. After a lot of kissing session and promises from her side, finally, he put it on a chain around his neck.

"You still wear it?" She cocked her brow. ‘How he can be so sweet all the time.

"Other than my finger, this is the only place for it. Near my heart. Where else it could be?" He stared down at her, sinking the bed beside her. “I know you too, had the other one around your neck.

Kara lifted her hand and rolled his chain around her fingers. "Your heart is mine?"

Daniel smiled and rested his elbow over her pillow, then leaned into her. "It always was and it always will be.” He placed her palm over his chest. “It beats for you only."

Kara didn't reply, she stared at him in loss of words. Could she ever be able to love him the way he loved her?
