Chapter Eight

Wouldn't it be nice if you woke up to the bright sun slowly making its way on its place at the sky with birds lightly chirping, feeling the cool breeze as flowers danced. That's not what everyone in the mansion experienced as they were all woken up by a repeated banging on the door and multiple voices calling their names. Zaccheus jolted up as Daniel groaned in frustration. He was getting to the good part of his dream but it was ruined. The twins and Noah groaned tiredly too.

Everyone went to the living room, a sleepy Noah and Daniel on the sofa feeling intimidated by the presence of unfamiliar men and two women that looked scary at how they were stood with their backs straight. They wore brown warrior-like sleeveless suits and each held a sharp spear. Daniel couldn't help but notice the faded scars they had on their arms and faces and it made him wonder if they were soldiers who served the country.

"What is so important that you had to knock so loudly at six in the fucking morning?"

Ice yelled in frustration, he hated waking up early despite all his duties as a beta. He didn't mean to sound rude but he still wanted to stay on the soft bed beside his mate.

"We are sorry for the disturbance but we are here to inform you that there had been an explosion at the outer barrier in section two. We checked it out earlier and we could tell it was no ordinary bomb."

A woman with bright red hair explained after bowing her head to pay respect. These people kept acting like that around these three that Daniel grew suspicious.

"In fact, it looked like something more. It wasn't a bomb but rather magic, Alpha."

A guy with light skin and dark eyes stated with confusion and uncertainty in his face. The information was still processing inside of Daniel's and Noah's head. Not just about the bomb thing but because of how they called Zaccheus ALPHA with utmost respect. They were acting like soldiers bringing a message to their king. Ace ran a hand through his golden locks and sighed.

"Did you at least have any clue that can tell us who did it?"

"I'm afraid we don't but, this might help. We found it taped on the wall beside the large hole that the explosion created."

Another guy said as he showed the paper to everyone, raising it in the air for everyone to clearly see. Daniel couldn't help it and intently looked at the figure. It was so, so familiar to him. Noah had no idea what it was but he could tell it was a meaningful symbol. The other three were confused as they had never seen it before. Written on a white wrinkled paper was a small heart symbol on the center with large wings on each side. It was drawn clumsily but still very symbolic.

"Quick, take it to Elder Minas. We'll follow in a few minutes."

"Yes sir."

They all bowed and walked away. Breakfast was quiet as the two smaller boys stared at the other three. They kept on thinking about the news, especially Daniel. After that morning, Daniel and Noah were left at the house, no one else was there since Noah insisted that the maids should rest and the twins couldn't resist him. There they were, munching on some popcorn while watching Frozen. They heard the door open but too focused on the TV to look at who entered.

"AH!"

A high-pitched voice echoed through the whole house. The two were startled and shot their gazes at a boy standing just a few feet away from them. Fluffy light brown hair and innocent blue eyes was what greeted them with pure rage and suspicion.

"Intruders! Charge!"

Blue held a long broom and went after the other two who ran outside the house. As if luck suddenly left them, Noah tripped on a small rock and yanked Daniel's shirt making them both fall to the rough ground with a loud groan.

"All of you please, get back here."

Elijah announced making Blue stop in his tracks, broom still in the air. Elijah needed to inform these little ones about who's who or there will be chaos inside the mansion.

Meanwhile...

Zaccheus and the twins arrived at their destination. A small but wide hut sat between rows of fruit-bearing trees and plants that grew around it. The surrounding smelt like fresh peaches and apples. There were flowers, butterflies and bees everywhere that kept nature as natural as possible. Ace knocked at the wooden door. The door soon opened revealing an old woman. She had long gray hair that was neatly tied in to a braid, wrinkles were visible beside her eyes and cheeks. She was short and wore a native-designed dress littered with different bright and dark colors.

"Ah, what can I do for you sons?"

She looked up and smiled at them.

"We wanted to show you something Elder. It is quite tricky and foreign for us to figure out."

"Well, come in and make yourselves at home."

And so, they told the elder everything that happened. The three of them feeling something at the same time but ignored, thinking it was the mysterious happening that was making them feel a little weird. They soon showed the paper to the elder but something shocked the three. The drawing was still there but something changed. Inside the heart was a spiral. It wasn't there before and that thought made them even more curious.

"You've found him didn't you."

It wasn't a question and Zaccheus knew it. He nodded at the elder. The twins looked at their Alpha with confusion so he looked at them.

"Daniel."

They both realized and nodded at the same time.

"How is my mate related to this crisis? You're not telling me he did that explosion are you?"

The elder chuckled and replied.

"No son, I'm not. I'm about to tell you something more. Something only a few know of at this moment. Something sad yet hopeful at the same time."

"Tell us then Elder Minas, we really want to know."

Ace said, as he held his brother's shoulder. The elder thought about it for a second, making the three a tad disappointed. Elder Minas sighed as flashbacks ran through her mind. She rubbed her palms together, knowing what was about to come.

"Well, it all started with a feast twenty years ago."
