CHAPTER: THE FEELINGS FROM THE PAST

"Where are we off to Miss?" the taxi driver asks me once I got in the vehicle. I'm still experiencing a jet-lagged so I just showed him the tiny piece of paper where I wrote the address. He nodded his head in understanding and started driving. "If you wouldn’t mind me asking why you are heading off to that apartment?" the driver asks me out of a sudden. Honestly, he caught me off guard by that but I already expected that question ever since I've started planning of coming back so I already came up with a lie to cover up my real intentions. "No, it's fine. Ahm I got a job in the country side and that's the only cheap place-- I mean room that I can get" I fake a smile and act like I know nothing about the history hiding in the four corners of that apartment. After that he didn't talk to me again. The drive on the way there was silent. Once we arrived, I immediately paid him and get out of the car with few luggage. Yeah, just few because I don't have any plans of staying longer. I immediately paid him and get out of the car with my luggage. Yeah, just few because I don't have any plans of staying longer. I think couple months will be enough on finding my sister's killer and all I have to do is to make sure something great happened EVERYDAY.

"What took her so long?" I muttered to myself while waiting for the landlady to meet me up. I dialed her number again but she didn't pick up my calls. She never change, she just loves the money. I heaved out a sigh while PATIENTLY waiting. Few minutes later, she finally showed up; greeting me with a blank expression. What a good start, huh? She handed me the key of my apartment and went back inside like nothing happens. She didn't even offer me a room tour? How nice of her really but honestly? I consider her as my prime suspect. So let just see what you're hiding under your sleeves, lady.A smirk secretly plaster on my face as I watches her walk back in the apartment. Alicia, here I come.

"No time to waste Curtis, keep going" I remind myself and stepped in again on the same wooden floor where Alicia had been carried out of this hell. I tried to calm myself while traveling the same creepy hallway where we used to walk in and out a year ago. I just hope that all of the tenants who used to live here were still here because if not? My stay will be longer than the time table I made and I'm avoiding that to happen. I still have parents to look out for. "Here I go--" I paused on my sentence when I notice a girl standing in front of the door, across my room. Is she a new tenant? "Ahm" I bit my bottom lip and keep the word I was about to say because she already look a little pissed while knocking on the door so I think I will just wait for her to enter their apartment first. "Hi! You must be the new tenant, jet lag?" the girl suddenly said and turned to my direction while smiling at me. I nodded my head shyly and took a quick glance over her direction, she's wearing a uniform. "See you later, neighbor!" she said and I just nodded my head in response. She was about to add up on that but the door suddenly opened. Another girl peek her head through the doorway and shyly waved at me. The girl earlier pulled her out of the way and she almost loose her balance but remained calm. "You must be our neighbor right? Hi, my name is Jennifer Ruby and that girl who pulled me out is Katy, my youngest sister. Hmm, you better take a rest for a bit, you looked tired" she introduced the both of them and I just smiled at her, she waved to me goodbye before heading back to their apartment. I sighed in relief when none of them recognized me. They must be some sort of between a new to old tenant because I don't remember their faces either-- which is a good thing to start my motives.

The old looking cheap apartment that Alicia and I used to live in were still the same, it looks like the old hunted apartment you saw in the movies. Maybe a you will think that it was a coincidence but nahh—this exact apartment hid one of the most horrifying memory that ever happened in this country that will soon to be revealed, first time after the case had been closed after none of the tenants speak about the murder for some unbelievable reasons. It was also one of the main reasons of the investigations failure. Yeah. A complete FAILURE and guess what? Up to now? Alicia's murderer is still freely walking out on the street we also used to walk on TOGETHER.

[KNOCK (2X)]

"A visitor?" I questioned myself as I curiously peeks through the peephole and saw the same girl earlier, standing in front of the door while carrying a basket of fruits in her left arm and the right hand was preoccupied by her phone. "Should I let her in?" I questioned myself again but a recent memory flashes through my mind. This girl hates waiting in front of the door. I quickly opened mine and she instantly showed me a smile. "A little gift for you" she said and handed me the fruit basket. "Oh, introvert? I see" she noticed when I just look at her shyly the she smirk at me before heading back into their apartment, not letting me give her a proper response so I just close the door and locked it securely. Once again, the cheap-empty looking room made me feels like I'm in a horror movie. Like the old lampshade, the hard mattress of the bed, the almost faded wallpaper plus the atmosphere itself. It looks like someone was watching every move I make so I let out a sigh and concentrate. I close my eyes and quietly examine my surrounding. "Hey Alicia, should I turn this apartment the way it used to be?" I tried to communicate with my sister's spirit like those paranormal experts do in their channel and who knows IF I also have that thing they called "third eye" you know? Luckily, I don't have that because I’ve never seen one before. Maybe it could be just a feeling of familiarity since there was a murder that took place in here so yeah—, hmm, why not try some different ways to communicate with the dead right? But it feels like I’m forgetting ONE THING.

"Damn it Curtis! Above of all this and before anything else, let's unpack this up SHALL WE?" I mentally face palm myself as I've remembered the first thing I should have done first after I had entered this room. Hays, the feeling were still the same like everything was just happened YESTERDAY.
