Chapter Sixteen

Two months later

Lana POV:

Things have gotten better in the past couple of months.

For the first few weeks of their breakup, Adam had consistently called and texted Sarah throughout the days. Some days she would get hundreds of missed calls and unread messages.

Cole on the other hand, he hadn't said much but when he looked at me, it made me nervous. After I told him the relationship couldn't continue, he changed. He got hateful and yelled when I refused to talk about what happened.

I sat on the couch playing a melody on the guitar, while I waited for Sarah to get home. I had my eyes closed getting lost in the music.

"Boo." I low voice said next to me.

My eyes flew open and I gasped loudly. I turned to see Ryder doubled over laughing.

"How the hell did you get in here!" I yelled angrily. "Sarah let me in." He replied.

"When the fuck did she get home?" I asked.

"I've been home for like half an hour." She called from upstairs. Oh.

As we ate, there was a knock on the door.

"Cole?" I asked when I opened the door. "Hey, Lan. Can we talk?" He asked. "Cole, you have to leave. I told you that we're done." I replied.

Cole's face hardened.

"Why can't you just forgive me? I miss you." He said, harshly.

"Is there a problem here?" Ryder asked from behind me.

When Cole saw Ryder, he was furious.

"I get it now. As soon as you dump me, you jump onto another dick? You're a fucking whore, Lana!" He yelled.

"Get the fuck back! I won't say it again!" Ryder yelled.

"What the hell is going on?" Kade asked as he stormed into the room.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" He asked Cole.

"I came to see my girlfriend. I didn't expect her to be shacking up with the two of you." Cole growled.

"I'm not shacking up with anyone, Cole. You need to leave." I said, calmly. "Not until we talk!" Cole yelled in my face.

I was pushed out of the way when Ryder threw a punch at Cole, landing at his temple.

The two men threw hit after hit to each other.

"Ryder! Ryder please!" I begged.

Ryder finally grabbed Cole by the collar of his shirt and shoved him out the door, locking it.

"Are you okay?" He asked me. "I'm fine. Are you?" I asked, my voice full or worry.

Ryder smiled softly and kissed my cheek. "I'm good." He said softly.

I smiled lightly and looked down at my feet so he wouldn't see the blush rise to my cheeks.

"Can we please eat now?" Kade asked and plopped back down on the bar stool.

I sat, still shaken by Cole's visit. He did a complete 180 after I broke things off. I had no idea what kind of person he really was. I thought Adam was crazy but Cole is much worse. I'm glad I need things when I did.

"You okay, Lan?" Sarah asked. "Yeah." I mumbled.

"You're sure you're okay? He didn't hurt you did he?" Ryder asked, rubbing my back. I smiled softly at him. "He didn't hurt me." I replied.

I had started to see Ryder in a different light. He was back to his old self again.. The man I fell in love with ten years ago.
