CHAPTER 2

GIANA'S POV.

With every passing day, i spent all my time placing orders for more and more things to be delivered at the mansion and creating a whole new style for the house. I had to set up two living rooms, six bedrooms, two kitchens, an indoor gym, a video room, an office, a play room for Riley and an indoor pool. I already envy the two Vanderbilt's who would be living here. I must admit, I'm doing a great job and it looks really classy and elegant. With the information i got from Alvin, I had to put in extra effort and be more creative when setting up Riley's room. In fact, I took a whole day drawing up the plan for her room. I hope Alvin approves of it and likes it. For the first three days, Alvin always took off time from the hospital and called me to see how far i had gone with the work. For the next three days, he was so busy at the hospital to even call. But today, he said he'll be stopping by to see things for himself.

"Hey guys, hurry up with whatever you're doing and clean up. The caretaker of the mansion will soon be here and everything has to be in order." I shouted so all the members of my team could hear me. They all responded and continued with what they were doing. I went to the masters bedroom and smiled at how good it looked. It had a grey and white theme, matching the personality Alvin portrayed. Everything in here was good, so I walked over to Riley's room. Alvin said she is seven and so i went with a pink and purple theme. Her bed was every child's dream as it rocked when you pressed a button and sang lullabies when you pressed another button. The bed cost a fortune. Everything in the room was expensive. Her bathroom and walk-in closet was not spared from my magic. She just has to love it cause I've given my all to it. I was about to go to the next room when i heard the doorbell. That must Alvin. I hurry down and see one of the workers had opened the door already.

I walk over to Alvin and hug him.

When he pulled away, his eyes wandered over the place and he smiled. "Wow Gigi, this doesn't look like the house i bought last week. Its so nice. Damn girl, it looks really good. I must say, I'm impressed."

I mock bow and he claps for me, making us chuckle. "Do you like it?"

He scoffed. "Are you even serious? Girl, I love this place. I can barely recognize it. It looks like one of those fancy houses in Beverly Hills. Do well to take me round the house while i call Armani and show him the place." He suggested and i agreed to give him a tour.

Just as we were about to start, my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and saw it was my mama. I looked back at Alvin. "Sorry, i have to take this. You know my mom, if i miss this, she's gonna whoop ma black ass. Tell one of the workers to show you around."

Thank God Alvin understood. I sent him a flying kiss and walked out, answering the call. "Hey ma. Good evening."

"Honey, where are you? Did you forget today is your grandma's birthday?"

Oh shoot! How could i forget about Nonna's birthday. "Sorry ma, I've just been so busy with work, but I'll be coming home soon."

"But honey its Sunday, you need to take a break."

I nodded even though she couldn't see me. "I'll be back before you know it. See you soon, ma." I hung up and hurried back to the house. Alvin was just getting off the phone too.

"That was Armani. He said its good, but you should step up the game in Riley's room and the gym."

I nodded. "I'll do that tomorrow. Right now, I have to go home. Its my grandma's birthday and i forgot. I've been too busy."

He flashed an apologetic smile my way. "I'll drive you home in that case."

I smiled at him. "I won't say no to that."

"I'm sorry Nonna. I just got carried away with work. But here, I got you something. Happy birthday!" I told my grandma as i handed a wrapped box to her. The good thing for everyone is that Nonna is understanding. Mama however, glared at me for forgetting grandma's birthday. "And I'm sorry mama, its just work, i swear."

Grandma opened the box and smiled when she saw the necklace. "Thank you Gi, its beautiful and i love it."

I smiled back at her. "You can wear it when going for your meetings. That way, Lucy's grandfather would notice you." I joked and winked, causing grandma to laugh.

"Don't say things like that, Giana." Mama scolded me and i raised my hands in surrender.

"Eww Gigi, stop playing matchmaker for grandma, she's old already." Tanya, my younger sister said and gagged. "You can play it for me instead, I'm young and I need a boyfriend."

I playfully smacked her arm. "Hell no. You're still too young." I said, walking to my room. I'm exhausted and i still have work tomorrow. Six more days and the Vanderbilts will be here, and I'll be able to rest.

"But I'm 18." Tanya said as she followed me to my room. She was trying to escape from mom, considering she just told everyone she needs a boyfriend.

I rolled my eyes. "Shut up Tan. Now can you leave so that i sleep?" I raise my eyebrow at her and point at the door.

When she left, I quickly sent a message to Theo before i passed out.

With each passing day, I added new and modern things in the house and re-adjusted Riley's room and the gym. Everything was done and Alvin assured me the house was perfect and he was sure his brother and niece would love it. They better do cause i put in a lot of effort.

Today, the Vanderbilts would be arriving and i need to be present. I dressed in a black jumpsuit and matching boots. I stopped by to see Theo in the morning and he complained of my ass looking too big in my outfit. I shrugged cause its not my fault we Africans are blessed with it. But damn, i had to admit it myself, my ass sure looks bigger in this jumpsuit. But that won't be a problem to Mr. Vanderbilt, considering he's old, right?

I later met up with Alvin who drove us to the mansion, "Man, I can't wait to see Armani. It's been four years since he came here. Riley was only three back then. During his last visit, he was with Karen. Now, its just him and Riley." Alvin said sadly as he drove. I didn't know what to say so i just kept quiet. "Between you and I, hope he finds a good woman here. I don't want Riley to feel lonely cause trust me, Armani's always busy."

I smiled at him. "Hopefully, he finds one."

We soon arrived at the mansion and Alvin got a text from his brother saying they just landed and they're on their way coming. I suddenly got nervous. What if they do not like it?

"Don't say that Gigi. You did good with this place. You transformed it."

Wait! I said that out loud?

Alvin chuckled. "No, i just know you so well to know what was going through your mind. Come, they'll be here any minute from now. You need a glass of wine to calm your raging nerves. He said and pulled me to the kitchen. We shared a glass of wine and chatted about random things so i could forget about the arrival of the Vanderbilts. We heard the doorbell and shared a look before going to welcome the owners of the home.

When Alvin opened the door, a little girl whom I'm assuming is Riley, walked in. She was dressed in a black leather skirt, white top and black boots. Her brown hair was tied up in a clean tight bun and she had an iPhone 11 pro in her hand. Wait, is she the seven years old kid? Or another girl.

"Riley! Gosh you look so big..." Alvin said as he pulled her into a hug, confirming my suspicion. So this is the Riley? Before i could process more information, an older guy walked in. "Armani!"

Wait again. This is Armani? I thought Alvin said he is an old guy. I sure as hell didn't expect him to be like this. I was speechless. First is his daughter who looks way different from what i expected, and now its him, who looks like nothing i imagined. Or maybe its the wine acting up.

Riley looked at me from my head to toe and back, then she turned to her father. "Is she my new nanny? Cause i already don't like her. She's so full of melanin." She said spitefully and i spotted the heavy British accent. "I hate black people and you know it daddy."

Wait, did this kid just call me her nanny and judge me for being black? Or is it the wine? Its definitely the wine or else hell is going to break loose. "Excuse me? What did you just say?"

Before the little bundle of rudeness could reply, Alvin took her up to show her her room. Better, or else...

Mr. Vanderbilt cleared his throat, gaining my attention. "Sorry about Riley. She's a little too straightforward." He apologized on his daughter's behalf.

"Or you mean racist? Mr. Vanderbilt." I told him feeling insulted. I was going to speak up again but Alvin and the bundle of rudeness walked back to the room. Alvin had an apologetic look on his face.

Riley walked over to me. "Uncle Alvin said you're our interior designer and just to let you know, I don't like the crap you did in my room. I hate pink. So do it again."

"Riley!" Both Alvin and her father called out in unison while I just stood there in shock, not believing the kid spoke to me like that.
