Chapter 09

AUTHOR'S POV

“ LEAVE ME! ” His filthy tongue grazed her neck and jolts of revulsion shot her body.

She tried to get herself out of his hold using all her energy but to no avail. His dirty hands started roaming around her body making her scream louder. In despair and fear.

Sara jolted up from her slumber and shrieked loudly. Her heart was drumming in her ears. Her eye were wide in terror.

It was all a nightmare right?

Gulping down the lump forming in her throat, Sara looked around herself. She was in some unknown place but it did not look like prison.

It was a room furnished in all black and red. A set of black and red sofa set was placed at the one corner of the room while two doors were present on both sides of the room. A frown etched upon her forehead and she noticed the bed she was currently sitting on. Its sheets were black while the pillows and blankets were red.

She glanced at herself hastily, noticing that she was wearing a red dress instead of her black dress now. The raw marks on her neck were still fresh.

This really happened. Her head shot up, as realization dawned upon her.

She killed him. Tears pricked her eyes again, but she held them back. She needed to know where she was and then she needed to take responsibility for what she had done.

Just like someone read her mind, the door to the left corner opened and Sara glanced in that direction to find a woman in her 40's walking inside.

“ You are awake. ” She sighed out heavily, confusing Sara.

Sara's suspiscious eyes observed her keenly. She was on guard because she did not even know where she was and her mind was not working that well. All she felt was the painful numbness.

“ Do I look like I am sleeping? ” Sara shot back unable to keep the bitterness off her tone.

The woman did not look surprised at all like she expected from Sara to burst out on her like this.

“ Where am I? Who are you? What did you do to me? ” Pushing the blankets away from her body, Sara got up from the bed and stood on her feet.

Her head spinned for a moment, but she maintained her balance, not wanting to let the woman standing in front of her know that she was weak right now.

Weakness was what got people trapped and killed in their world.

“ You are in my Master's mansion. I am the head maid here. I just changed your torn clothes. ” The woman replied with simple answers.

Sara's head was spinning. Who was this master now?

“ Who is your master? ” Sara groaned out tiredly and marched towards the annoying woman who refused to let her know anything.

“ You will find out. Come with me. He is waiting for you. ” She asked robotically and Sara let out a shaky breath.

Was this some kind of blackmailing spree? What was her so-called master doing in the hotel room anyway?

She could remember it now. When she fainted, she saw some people. The one who stood in front was wearing a mask that covered his face.

Was he the master this woman talked about?

Sara glanced down at her feet that were bare before her eyes travelled to the slipper placed neatly beside the bed. She walked towards the bed and wore the slippers hurriedly.

Turning around, Sara noticed that the woman started walking already. She rushed to follow her to find out what it was all about now.

Her neck was burning. She had a strong urge to cover herself and then hide. It was like she felt disgusted by herself, but she could not let these emotions appear when she did not even know where she was.

As she walked behind the woman, Sara took in her surroundings. Everything screamed Power and Money. All the paintings, decoration pieces, chandeliers, furniture...Everything was highly expensive and Rare.

One thing she learned in life was that...Powerful people never helped even a dying man without any reason.

What did this man want from her? This question was making bile rise up in her mouth.

The woman led Sara to what seemed like a study room before she left, closing the door on her way out.

The study room was engulfed in darkness. Sara could not see anything, but she knew someone was there. She could feel another presence in the room except hers.

Why were the lights turned off? She pondered over the thought and squinted her eyes to see anything, but it was of no use.

“ You are thinking of going to the police right? ” The unfamiliar masculine voice echoed in the room, sending chills down Sara's spine.

She turned to her right where that voice came from and tried to see the man who was getting on her nerves now.

“ What am I doing here? Who are you? ” Sara counter-attacked him with questions of her own instead of answering him.

“ I am someone who knows about what you did and you are here because you fainted. ” He gave her a diplomatic answer, making a nerve tick in her jaw.

“ So what if you know? I am going to confess everything. ” Sara hissed out and walked towards her right to get to that man, but she ended up hitting a wall instead.

“ You can't do this, Sara. ” He pointed out, as Sara turned around and looked towards her left.

He was here just now, right? How did he get to her left then?

She gulped and froze on her spot. “ Why? ” She asked, her eyes still searching for him in the darkness. Maybe, any possible movement will help knowing where he actually was.

“ Don't you want Lexington Group? Do you think your Grandfather will let you inherit the company if you cause another scandal? ” He mocked in his low tone.

Sara's mind started working again just as all thoughts rushed in. He was right. He was so right. She pushed her hair away from her face, as she rested her back against the wall behind her.

“ What do you want? ” Sara gulped down the lump forming in her throat.

She could not fall weak right now. She had to inherit Lexington Corporation even at the expense of her life.

“ You. ” The unexpected reply came, making Sara's blood to freeze in her veins. Fear crawled up her spine just as memories started swirling in her mind one more.

' Now you are a good girl. ' The whisper was there in her mind. She could feel that ugly man touching her all over.

“ I love you. ” Another wave of shock hit her hard like a truck. The breath was knocked out of Sara's lungs, as those words registered in her mind.

No one had ever said these words to her before. Not this unexpectedly or in a sincere tone at least.

' I want you. ' It was what Silas had said. She did not know why she was recalling what he said in this moment.

“ I am married. ” The words slipped out of her mouth efficiently, surprising her to her core. How was it so easy to say this?

“ I know. ” He revealed, his voice sounding closer than before.

Was he walking around her? Sara stared at the darkness, feeling dumbfounded.

“ You can go now Sara Alexander. No one will ever know what happened last night. ” He reassured smoothly, letting another wave of shock wash over Sara.

“ And what do you want in return? ” Sara walked to her left this time, trying to reach out to him.

She wanted to see this man who claimed to love her. She was careful to not hit something again.

“ I don't want anything. Except you. ” He whispered in a low voice, that Sara barely managed to hear.

This made her sure that he was close. She raised her hand and it touched something soft yet hard at the same time. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her wrist, holding her hand in the air.

“ You already belong to someone else so you can't give me what I want. Leave now. ” He voiced out and rubbed her wrist with his thumb lightly. The touch made all the horrible memories rush back to her mind again.

Sara knew he was standing in front of her at this moment, but she still could not see him which was bugging her nerves.

“ I don't believe you. ” She hissed, not knowing why she was being so harsh with him when he was helping her.

But again, she did not believe that Powerful people ever helped someone without a specific reason and love...

It was not an important enough reason.

“ You will believe me with time. ” He declared and stepped closer, making Sara to stumble back on her feet.

“ Go now. ” He left her wrist and stepped away, noticing how reluctant she was for even standing close to him.

He was sure that she was affected by what that Man did to her and that's why she was so scared to stumble back like this. His heart was hurting for her, but he had already helped her as much as he could. There was nothing more he could do for her. It was better to leave her alone now.

Sara stepped forward when she did not hear his voice for the longest time, but he was not there anymore.

Out a sudden, she heard the door to the room open. Light peeked inside and she saw his back. He was leaving.

She rushed towards the door and poked her head out to stop him in the hallway. Her mouth hanged open, when she found no one in the hallway.

Was he a ghost?

She pursed her lips and stepped out.

She will find out about him. She had to.

Because he was the one who knew about what she did and he was one who claimed to love her.

But first, she needed to go home.

Home? She did not know where a home for her was.

Yet with this one specific word, only one place appeared in her mind.
