Chapter 8

GRISELDA'S POV

I waited patiently for my in-laws to come to the garage. I asked my personal maid to informed them that I want to spend the whole day with them today. Yesterday's party was amazing. I get to talk to Fixra's parents, Lazarus's manager, Martina's mother and Katrina's father about their involvement with my family name. Sometimes I hate to use the name I was born into.

Whenever I mention Zadicus in front of everyone, they froze, they scared that I would do something to them. Why does it took a lot of persuasion to assured them that I am not like that? I am not like my ancestor, who used force to get what they want? "Mom?" Martina called out to me. I smiled at her when she and the rest appeared in front of me.

"Where are we going, mom?" Lazarus asked. "You'll see. Get in." I decided to drive today. "It's best if Martina sits shotgun." She smiled at me. "You knew?" She asked. "Oh, honey, we all knew," Katrina stated. "Calista is too dense to notice," Lazarus added. "Fixra, sit in the middle." The goddess nodded at Katrina and enter the car. I still can't believe that Kairos manage to find her soulmate.

And she's the legendary Burning Princess to add to that!

"Everyone ready?" I asked before driving away. Martina looking out of the windows and looking back to me while I'm driving. "Mom, are we going to the royal castle?" Busted! "Yes." They all gasped, especially Fixra. "My mother wanted to meet our dear goddess." Uh oh... that's a bad idea. She seems to be having trouble breathing.

"Fixra relax. They're my family. Don't worry." I assured her. I turned to the familiar long stretch of road towards the royal castle of Zadicus. I park the car in front of the entrance and walk out. I saw one of my brother's personal maid walk out of the castle front door and smiling at us. I did tell her that I'm coming today maybe she's escorting us.

"Welcome back, Princess Griselda." She and the rest of the servants bow to me. She leads us inside. Before we could even pass the foyer, my brother descending from the stairs looking at me with a massive smile on his face. "Well well well... look at that.. my little sister decided to come back home." The king, my brother, announced.

"Welcome home sister." He hugged me and pulled away as he looks at my features. "I'm sorry I didn't get to go to your birthday party. Please forgive my family and me." I waved it off. "I've heard your distress call. I will help. Let's meet father. Mother is with him." I nodded. "Come on, guys." I ushered my in-laws to follow us. "Hold on. Who's that? She looks familiar." My brother was referring to Fixra.

"That's Kairos's soulmate, Fixra, Goddess of Lightning." The king gasped. "The Burning Princess. That's amazing! The Burning Princess joining in with the Demon Princess." My brother laughed. "What a match!" We lead them all towards a room at the farthest part of the castle. "Anything change?" I asked my brother. "Not really. Mother just misses him." He opened the door, and I saw my mother sitting next to his husband's coffin.

"She's been visiting him every day for the last 500 years." The king sighed. "Mother.," I called out to the woman who gave birth to me. "Griselda? oh Griselda.." she stood up, and we met halfway as I hugged this woman who raises me. She's the same person who taught me about revolutions in this ancient world. She also the vampire who taught me about the human world.

"I see you brought the new addition to the family. Hi there..." Lazarus pushed Fixra's body forward. Fixra curtesy and smile. "What an amazing aura you have, child." Mother offered her hand and took hers. "A goddess.. amazing. Kairos outdid herself again, huh." Mother pulled Fixra into a hug. "Outstanding power coming out from your body... I hope you could protect my granddaughter from harm."

She said before turning to my other in-laws. "Come here, you guys. Give grandma a hug." They all group hug while I look at my brother. "Can we have a moment?" He nodded and lead me to another private room. "So, what do you want to talk about, sister?" The king asked me. "It's about the King of Gods. He challenged Kairos into a death match against all of Fixra's suitors." He was waiting for me to end my rambling.

"What's the problem with that?" He asked. "I feel like he's planning to kill my daughter." I ended it. "What makes you think that?" He asked. "I don't know brother. I just think that way." I sighed. "Sister. Are you worried she might meet her death at the deathmatch? Sister, are you forgetting who is your daughter?" He asked me. Who can forget? She's the Demon Princess. "How can I forget. She's the one who kills the current king of god's father."

The king nodded. "He was out of control. She did a good job following my orders. But now that Kairos was chosen to be with the Burning Princess, I wonder what does the goddess of love thinking of. Why does she want her own niece to be with her father's killer?" The king revealed my thoughts. "What do you want me to do sister?" I always knew I could count on my brother.

But Kairos specifically said that I shouldn't get my hands dirty in this matter. "You know how stubborn Kairos can be. She doesn't want my help at all. I'm worried she might hurt herself even worse than last time." The king hummed. "So you want me to discreetly investigate the King of Gods agenda? Is that right?" He asked.

I nodded. "I can do that. Don't worry about a thing." I smiled at him. "The deathmatch will be in three weeks. Better get it down by then. Also, keep this from Calista. I don't want her to interfere with our plan." The king nodded. "Let's go and meet with mother again. I think they're all at the gazebo." I suggested.

We heard distant laughter coming from the gazebo.

"Tell me, Fixra. How did my granddaughter treat you?" Mother asked when my brother and I at the gazebo not far from the royal palace. "She's been a real gentlewoman." Fixra smile. "You can tell me what she did to you. Don't be shy. I'll make sure I'll smack her head hard." Fixra chuckled. "I'm serious. She's been really nice to me." She assured that old vampire.

"Did she transform into her inner vampire?" My mother asked. Fixra seems to have a second thought. "Honestly, she did. When she tried to save me from nearly being raped. She's nice to me too." We all actually quite shocked to hear that. "Are you saying Kai was nice to you? She didn't threaten you or anything?" I asked the goddess.

She shakes her head, no. "I even let her both take over the body. She's amazing in my eyes." I can't believe this. I turned to face my brother, who's smiling wide. "Looks like Kai found her soulmate as well." My brother stated. "I'm so happy." My mother said. "I can't believe someone could control Kai, Kairos's inner vampire." Lazarus is shocked as well.

"Calista could rest easy now." Martina smiled. "We don't have to worry about Kai losing control now," Katrina added. "Excuse me but, Kai is the red eyes Kairos right? With the black wings?" We all nodded. "She told me not to leave her alone." I can't believe my little girl's inner vampire begging for someone not to leave her side. This is such a miracle.

"Did I do something wrong?" Fixra asked while looking at us all. Words can't describe how happy we are. "Don't mind us, Fixra. We're happy, that's all." Martina smiled at me. "Mom, you can rest assured now. You don't have to be worrying about Kai In Orman." I nodded. She's right. With Fixra there, Kai will never disobey her soulmate's wishes.

"I'm sorry for everything but, Fixra, could you follow me, please. I have something to show you." Fixra excuses herself from my mother and the others before following my footsteps.

She needs to know the truth.

"Where are we going?" She asked before walking in the doorway. "I'm going to show you where Kairos currently is." I simply said. "Huh? She's back at home. Right?" I shake my head. "She's here. I have a feeling you'll be seeing the real Kai." I said and let her see through the one-way mirror.

"Who's that?" She asked while looking straight at the creatures standing inside the room. "That's Kai. Kairos's original form." I stood beside her and look at my daughter. She flaps her wings a couple of time before turning around, facing us. She doesn't know we're here, watching her. It's time for her to be examined thoroughly. Calista herself will perform it from top to bottom.

"What is Calista doing with that scalpel?" She asked. "She will take a little part of her skin, and the lab will examine them. Zadicus palace has the best alchemist." I explained. "Why does the alchemist need her skin for?" She asked again. "For medicine." I heard Kai's voice coming from the speakers. "Kairos?" Fixra called out. "Hey, Fixra. Sorry if you have to see this part of me." Kai actually smiling at her.

"It's okay Kai." She smiles, Kai actually smile! "You called me by my name. I am happy." I looked away when she flinched as Calista took a huge chunk of flesh from her little sister's back. "Why does she hurting you like that?" Fixra asked. Calista looked up with rage in her eyes. "You think I like doing this with my own sister?!" Calista was rude. "CALISTA!" I warned her.

"Stop hurting her.." Fixra turned to me. "Do something! Please! She's in pain!" She begged. "Listen to me. Fixra, we have to do that. It's the only way to tame Kai. If not, the same demon who killed your grandfather will emerge from her soul and take over." I explained. "Calista does it now," Kai said before smiling at Fixra. "Don't worry. Kairos will make sure you're okay after this. See you soon, my love." Kai said before Calista place a spell on her back.

She let her body fell on the floor and it slowly turning back to Kairos. "Bring her here," I said and waited for them. Calista placed Kairos body in Fixra's arms. "Hey.. please wake up. Please.." she begged. Calista grabbed Kairos by the neck and threw her against the wall. Fixra was about to hit Calista, but she holds herself down. "Please don't hurt her," Fixra said before went to her side. "Don't hurt her.," Fixra begged.

"She's weak. How does she suppose to win at the deathmatch! She's weak!" Calista yelled. "SHE'S NOT WEAK!" I pulled Calista to my back when I noticed the goddess's eyes glow. "Fixra.. take it easy." I coo her. She's holding Kairos's body close like her life depends on her. "I won't let Calista hurt her anymore. I promise her I won't let her in pain." When Kairos finally awakens, she calms her soulmate down.

"Shhh... it's okay. I'm fine now." Kairos smiled. When she turned to me, I noticed her eyes have different colours to one another. "Kai?" She responds. "Kairos?" She also respond. Did the spell backfire? "Calista, what happens?" I asked. She shrugged. "Seems like my usual spell didn't work because she found her soulmate. Kai wants to be with her at all times." Calista explained to me. I look down on these two who are talking to each other.

"Please... don't hurt her anymore. I will control her inner vampire in my own ways." Fixra faces Calista and me. "Please don't hurt me... I can't bear to see her in pain." Kairos turns her head to meet her. "Fixra. They didn't do it on purpose. My flesh can be made into a medicine. Its healing power was beyond compare to anything."

"That doesn't mean you should be in pain whenever Kai decided to come out!" Both Calista and I look at each other. "How could you both let this happen! Kai is part of Kairos and you, her own family didn't even want to accept her as part of her! What is wrong with you!" That goddess is right. After what had happened, the Ministry wanted Kai to be controlled at all cause.

Kai going rogue will be the death of my own daughter. But what we did to her all this time seems like imprisoned her from the start. "You actually question our way of dealing with our little sister?" Calista asked. "You really think we like what the Ministry decide for Kairos? You think we hate her for being different? Fixra, all of us, the Zadicus, were treated like monsters."

I hold on Calista's arm. "Mom, she needs to know." I released her. "My mother, father, my brothers, my sister and myself, we were treated as outsiders in this realm. It hurts us when creatures alike used us to gain influence or using our money for their own gain. When we finally found our soulmate, that's the only time we ever feel the love we seek for. Just because of the difference in our silver hair, they judge us!"

Fixra looks down. "Don't blame yourself. I know what you feel." I said to her. "I'm sorry for being rude. I can't stand seeing Kairos getting hurt again." She helped Kairos sitting up. "Apologise to my mother and sister," Kairos said. Fixra apologised. "My sister may be a bitch, but she still my flesh and blood," I warned Calista with my glares. She was about to hit Kairos again if I don't do something.

Kairos got up and helped her soulmate as well. "Did you meet my grandmother?" She asked. "I did. She told me everything about you." Kairos laughed. "Everything?" Fixra nodded. "The time when you walk in on her with your grandfather. The time when she caught you looking into the women's bath. The time when you pretend to be sick just to be carried by the hot nurse." Kairos covered her soulmate's mouth.

"That's enough." She gave out a nervous laughed.

"Mom, we need to talk," Calista whispered. I nodded and excuse ourself, leaving them both alone. "What is it, Calista?" I asked when I closed the door behind me. "Not here, mom." She leads me to the garden, and she makes sure that no one around us. "Is this wise mother? Her with the goddess? You know how hateful the king of Gods towards us at the party yesterday. The queen was friendly but the king, she even threatened us that he would burn our home down."

"Keep the thoughts to yourself Calista. We don't want those two to know what actually happened behind their back. Let your father and I handle the threat. You will NOT interfere with it. Do you understand me Calista Zadicus?" I need her to promise me she won't do anything. She will jeopardise the plan Valentine and I had planned out.

"PROMISE me, Calista!" I sternly said. She scoffed before nodding her head. "Calista. Listen to me. You have your own wife to worry about. Let me handle the king. I know what I'm doing." My daughter sighed heavily. "Alright. I get it." She let it go. I know deep down she wanted to do something. She acts like she doesn't care about Kairos, but she cares genuinely.

"I'm sorry, I'm late. The meeting went too long for me." My husband landed in front of us. He let his wings back into his body before kissing my nape. "Are you trying to make me feel something Valentine?" I asked my husband. "Perhaps. Is it working?" We both heard Calista clearing her throat. "I'm still here." She announced. "We don't mind," Valentine said to our oldest kid and smirked.

"Don't be that way Calista. If we didn't do things like this, you and your siblings wouldn't be here right now." Calista makes a loud gagging sound. "Oh, please, you had sex as well. If not, how was it possible for Martina to be carrying your child right now." I mentally facepalm myself. My husband and his big mouth. "Hold on! What? What did you say? Father, tell me!" Valentine seeking my help, but I ignore his stare.

"What? Ummm.. what I'm trying to say is.. umm... Griselda! Help me!" By now, Calista was facing her father, glaring into his eyes. "Father! What's the meaning of this! What do you mean?! Tell me the truth!" Calista was yelling, but we all heard a louder voice not far from us. I turned to see Martina walking towards us. "It can't be helped." She smiled before pulling on Calista's ear.

"Have respect for your father! Yes! I'm carrying your child in me. Honestly, everyone knew except for you. And your my wife for hell sake!" Calista kneeled when Martina pulled on her ear even harder. "I'm sorry! I didn't realise it. I did sense the difference in your scent, but I decided to ignore it. You know how sensitive you can be if I asked about having a baby."

Calista reason. "Are you saying it's my fault now?" Martina twisted her ear harder. "I'm sorry, okay... I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Calista begged. "You hurt Kairos again didn't you? Have you forgotten I can sense your anger and thoughts? You promise you won't hurt her ever again, but you did." Martina grabbed both ears and twisted it. "Ow ow ow! Martina, it hurts! Stop it.."

My husband placed his hands on my shoulder. "Should we left them?" He asked. "I think so." We both slowly leaving them and made ways towards the gazebo where everyone gathers. We smiled when Kairos and Fixra joining in as well, making my mother feeling happy again.
