Luke's POV

“Why is that man still here? When will he be laid off?” I asked Suzette, frowning.

Suzette just laughed. Lindsay was busy watching the decorations around, and I just let her. I think she hasn't been here. So, I was surprised that she wants this company to handle our wedding event. Or maybe because Lindsay intends to give her sister another project.

What a kind woman I have here…

“Until now, you were too hard on Chester. What had he done for you to be that hostile to him?” I heard Suzette scoldings.

I turned to her and frowned. "I just don't like him."

“Well, I like him. He had his own charm in getting a project. And that's a big thing for my company. I plan to put Ellery and him on the same team. They are both good— ”

"Don't you dare?" There are emphasis and threats as I cut her off with whatever she says.

“Hi, Elle! There you go… Well, guess who is here. ”

And Suzette totally ignored my warnings. I will seriously talk to her one of these days. I am afraid she would do what she said. I would not let that happen. I don't want ‘harmful insects' being around with Ellery. She is someone I treasured the most, so I can't allow anyone else to surround her.

“Ms. Suzette… Oh! You’re here!” Ellery seems to be surprised to see me.

And I finally forgot my temper when I saw Ellery's sweet smile. I also forgot to scold her about the scene I saw earlier.

"Hi,”

Ellery's POV

I WAS SURPRISED and happy to see Luke in the office. They are in front of my table, he is talking to Ms. Suzette. That's the reason why everyone knows when Luke comes here because the lady boss assisted him personally.

"Hi!" Luke greeted me when he saw me.

“Hi! So, what brought you here?” I greeted back. I smiled at Ms. Suzette as a greeting.

“It seems like you just came back to work since that day I asked you out. So, I guess you have not yet told Suzette about the event I want you to hold.” Luke's tone was kind and considerate. I am humiliated that he found out I have not yet informed the lady boss about the new project he lends me. I felt like I am very incompetent.

“Really? Haven't you even told your boss about the new event you are about to hold? What have you been doing? Oh, my God! I can't believe that’s how you do your job, Elle.”

I was surprised at the voice from somewhere. Ms. Suzette and Luke moved apart. Suddenly the tall and sophisticated woman came out. It’s no other than Lindsay.

“Lindsay…”

I was embarrassed by Lindsay’s outburst. I can't look straight at Luke and Ms. Suzette.

“I’m sorry. I did not report to the office immediately after Luke and I talked.” I apologized.

“Sorry? Is that all that you can say? On the day of my wedding and you made things wrong, are you going just to say sorry? Look at you, even in the beginning, you are so incompetent. ”

"Lindsay, you don't have to say that." I heard Ms. Suzette reprimanded. “Elle got sick, so she did not report immediately at work. And besides, the wedding will be next month, and we can prepare a lot of wedding ideas for you that you will definitely like. ”

"Wait, you have been sick, Ellery?" I heard Luke ask. I could sense the concern in his voice. Somehow, that reduced the bitterness and embarrassment I felt right now.

I just nodded. “Are you already fine? What made you sick?” Luke turned to Ms. Suzette. "You did not tell me that was the reason for her absence. We've been talking for a while already. ”

I heard the worry in his voice, so my heart is celebrating.

“You were too busy with other things before, so I didn't get the chance to mention it.” Ms. Suzette said.

In my peripheral vision, I saw Lindsay's annoying shaking.

“Luke, I get it that my sister is your friend.” I saw the surprise on Ms. Suzette's face. Of course, she did not know that I am related to the famous model named Lindsay. And I don’t even want to go tell anybody how we got related to each other. “But we did not come here to worry about her, who did not look sick anymore. We are supposed to talk about my wedding. “If I haven't known my sister very well, I would think it is an honest mistake. But I know Elle did it on purpose. She wanted to sabotage the wedding because that sister of mine hates me so much!”

“Lindsay!” Luke reprimanded.

“What?” Lindsay glared at me. “Tell me, I am wrong. You hated me since you got your awareness in this world. You didn’t want me to be happy! And you are using this chance to sabotage my wedding because you are in love with my fiance!”

I got stunned by Lindsay's outburst. I couldn’t defend myself because, somehow, it was true.

Lindsay faced Ms. Suzette. “I don’t want to offend you, Suzette. You are awesome. Suzette's service is awesome, and since Ellery is my sister, I want your company to hold the important event of my life. But I realized something, my sister will never let me be happy. She'll do everything to ruin this event.”

I faced Ms. Suzette with an apologetic look. I don’t want to make any scene here, but Lindsay was kind of an attention-seeker.

“Surely, Ellery never mixed personal issues with her job. I'll assure you, she'll do her best to make your event be the wedding of the year.” Ms. Suzette assured Lindsay. And I am so grateful to my boss that she stands with me.

“I don’t know. But all I want is my wedding to be perfect and flawless. If you can't promise me that, then we have nothing more to talk about. Besides, I know the very reason why it won’t be a successful event, though. Please excuse me.”

And just like that, Lindsay just walked her way out. She was playing the victim again. What a good actress she was?

"Hey, Lindsay, come back here!" Luke was about to follow her when Ms. Suzette suddenly spoke.
