Fighting The Past

Siddharth's Point Of View

°°°

I was walking into my house to find Dad doing some work. I suddenly felt suffocated.

Why on earth did I get into this boxing thing?!

I sucked in a sharp breath and walked up to my room. It was a spacious and airy room. I sat down on my bed. Just then Mom walked into the room with chowmein.

"Here you go, some good chowmein for you Sid.", She said sitting beside me as I merely stared at the ground.

"Mom, I did a mistake today.", I said.

"What did you do?", She asked taking the chowmein on a fork.

"Mom I-I agreed to participate in ‘The Intercollegiate Boxing Tournament’.", I said. I was sure she did pause for a moment in shock.

"Do you want to participate?", She asked slowly, as if composing herself.

"Yes.", I said truthfully, I buried my face in my hands. All this was so exhausting!

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow."

"Then go ahead.", I immediately looked up at her. She looked quite positive.

"But-", she cut me off.

"Get yourself new boxing gloves and go and fight tomorrow. Don't let this go. ", She said as I gulped nervously.

"I-I can't.", I studdered, fearing the consequence.

Aisha's Point Of View

°°°

It was the day of the boxing championship. I was already sitting in the audience looking at the ring quietly. The even was to begin in a few minutes.

The Chief Guest was Manav Choudhury himself.

"You look lost.", Aditi who sat beside me said.

"No-No. I'm fine.", I stammered.

"What are you thinking about?", She asked.

"Will Siddharth fight today?", I asked her.

She looked at me for a while.

"You should be happy if he doesn't.", She said immediately as I turned away.

Actually. Why was I bothered if he came or not?!

"Exactly.", I stated and looked away. The event started. The fight match was between Varun and a guy called Karun. Varun defeated him quite instantaneously. Naira was cheering for him so much. I merely smiled as I looked at her. She did love him and I knew it, but then, he did not.

I sat back as the fight continued. To be very honest, I was not interested. The moment I decided to leave the commentators called out,

"Now it's time for the Hot Shot Billionaire, Siddharth Goenka and the ever charged up, last year's runner up, Mohit Kumar!", I immediately sat back as I waited in anticipation.

Mohit Kumar walked into the red corner but Siddharth was missing. I felt an icy feeling, I did not know why.

"Where is Siddharth Goenka?", The commentator said, confused. Just then loud cheers erupted from the people supporting the blue side. I was sitting on the red side.

Just then Siddharth walked in wearing his blue gloves and shorts. I suddenly realised how well - built his physic was. His six abs were well defined and he did look commendable.

He got onto the arena.

The boxing match started as I sat in anticipation. I did not know why, but I did want him to win. I should have hated him but his past had indeed melted some part of me.

Mohit Kumar punched him hard on his face as he immediately fell onto the ropes binding the arena.

"Oh no! Is this ending so fast?! Come on! Get up Sid!", The commentator said immediately.

He slowly stood up but was immediately punched on the ribs as he fell onto the ropes again. His head was bleeding.

It seemed like the whole audience sat gulping nervously.

Could Sid ever fight against his past and win?
