Chapter 24 Old Memories

Half an hour later.

The kitchen was full of smoke.

Yuri held a spatula in one hand and a plate of lettuce in the other hand, holding the phone on his shoulder.

"Nanny Wu, how to make the stir-fried beef with vegetables?"

Salt, wine, garlic, diced beef. He had prepared everything, but the dish didn't taste good.

He had no one else to ask except the nanny who had watched him grow up. If he called her mother, he would definitely be nagged.

"Yuri, tell me who you are cooking for in the middle of the night?" Even Nanny Wu began to gossip.

"For myself," Yuri said faintly. He wiped the sweat off his forehead. If he didn't hang up the phone, Nanny Wu would definitely continue asking him.

He wanted to put the phone aside, but unexpectedly, he saw Joey when he turned around.

She was looking at him with her dark eyes.

"Didn't I tell you to wait for me in the bedroom?" He asked in a deep voice.

He didn't know if she had heard his conversation with Nanny Wu. Fortunately, he wasn't on speaker.

He wanted to show off in front of her, but ...

Joey didn't say anything. She was so hungry while waiting in the bedroom. She glanced at the vegetables and beef, "I'll do it myself."

This was her world. In the past, being left in the empty house, she often stayed in the kitchen to study recipes.

However, Yuri was completely unaware and was unwilling to know.

He asked in surprise, "Are you sure?"

"Yes." She nodded.

After thinking a while, Yuri took a few steps back.

"Well, I'll leave the kitchen for you." He was worried that she would slip on the smooth kitchen floor, but he was surprised to see her offer to help. This proved that she was a step closer to restoring her ability to take care of herself.

Dr. Cheng also advised her to take more exercise, which was conducive to the recovery of bone joints and metabolism.

Yuri didn't leave immediately but just retreated to the side.

Facing the ingredients on the table, she thought for a long time. Everything here was too familiar.

She gathered her wits together and washed her hands. Her following actions were natural and smooth. Mashing the garlic first, sprinkling some starch into the beef and adding a little oil. She knew the next step without thinking at all.

She had a feeling that she should have done it countless times before.

In her vague memory, someone loved to eat beef very much, so she tried the different ways to cook beef for him.

She shook her aching head and refused to torture herself.

"You are really good at cooking!" Yuri looked at the dish in front of him. He looked at Joey differently after tasting it.

If he hadn't seen Joey cooked the meal with his own eyes, he would have thought it was takeout.

Joey didn't show any expression. She just stared at him, making him hard to swallow.

"What's wrong?" He put down the chopsticks.

It was her supper, but now he ate each mouthful with enjoyment.

"It is the first time for you to have my cooking?" She still refused to believe that they had been married.

After saying that, she realized how lonely she was in the past. Probably she used to eat alone.

Yuri was stunned at her question. He laughed dryly and quickly swallowed the beef in his mouth before carefully saying, "You are my wife, really."

However, Yuri felt guilty. Many facts showed that they were like strangers, so he was worried.

It wasn't funny, but Joey smiled, "just forget it."

She lowered her eyes and started to eat quietly.

However, she turned her head and couldn't help but smile.

This was the first time he had seen her smile after she returned to him.

Did he accidentally make her happy?
