Chapter 8 Funeral in the Auditorium

The sunlight shone through the window into the huge living room. Xiao Ruoyi pushed open the bedroom door and saw He Yuzhe standing up from the dining table.

He was still dressed in a black suit, seeming dull, completely different from the man who used to be in a white sportswear. His face was cold as if nothing could affect him.

Xiao Ruoyi didn't know when he came back last night, and she didn't want to ask either. She also knew that she had no right to ask him.

She slowly walked to the table, but there was no breakfast left on it. She looked up and just then met with his cold eyes .

"Come to the office before eight o'clock. Tidy up all these before you go out." He Yuzhe languidly raised his hand, his voice calm, then turned around and walked out without looking back.

"Of course." Xiao Ruoyi nodded slightly and started to tidy the things on the table with a bitter smile. Perhaps she had gotten used to He Yuzhe these few days. Even if her heart was aching now, but it she couldn't seem to feel anything as if she was numb.

The furniture was well-ordered. The magnificence of the residence of He family only made her look more miserable.

She looked up at the clock on the white wall and realized that there was not much time left. So she picked up her speed. However, her stomach growled to her disappoinment.

Xiao ruoyi touched her stomach and pursed her lips. She recalled what He Yuzhe had said before he left. In the end, she quickly undid her apron.

The courtyard of the He family was splendid and the red car at the entrance of the courtyard was even more familiar to Xiao Ruoyi. As she approached, the one who stuck out his head was indeed Bai Yichen.

"Get in the car. I'll take you somewhere." The corners of Bai Yichen's mouth curled up, as if he was feeling a little joyful. Under the sun, the warm smile eased Xiao Ruoyi's tense mood for the time being.

"Yichen, why are you here?" Xiao Ruoyi sat in the passenger seat and asked Bai Yichen.

Bai Yichen slowly started the car. He held the steering wheel tightly with both hands. The smile on his face did not dissipate. He looked at Xiao Ruoyi from time to time with doting eyes.

"Of course I'm worried that you're being bullied. There is none that He Yuzhe can't do. I think you should move out. If you don't have a place to live, come to the residence of Bai family."

Bai Yichen's voice was filled with concern. When he spoke of He Yuzhe, his smile faded for a few seconds, but when Xiao Ruoyi's figure was reflected in his eyes, he began to smile again.

Just now, when he saw He Yuzhe coming out of the residence of He family alone, he knew that Xiao Ruoyi must go to the company alone.

He knew about the feud between Xiao family and He family, and he understood that Xiao Ruoyi didn't want his help. He just felt pain in his heart when he saw his beloved woman being bullied like this.

At the mention of He Yuzhe, Xiao Ruoyi was also stunned. She tightened her grip on the seat belt and looked out of the window.

The views outside quickly went past. Xiao Ruoyi noticed that this was not the direction of the He Group and turned to ask, "Yichen, where are we going?"

Then she looked at her watch.

"You'll know when we get there." Bai Yichen smiled and glanced at Xiao Ruoyi with a smug tone.

Xiao Ruoyi looked out of the window and felt a little anxious. The scenery flashed through her eyes and the car slowed down. The wind over her hair decreased, and the scenery outside the window froze.

A white auditorium was reflected in her eyes. With surprise Xiao Ruoyi looked at Bai Yichen whose eyes were smiling.

"Ruoyi, I have arranged for uncle's funeral. According to his last wish, we will scatter his ashes into the sea later." Bai Yichen opened the door and gently held Xiao Ruoyi's hand to lead her out of the car.

The door of the auditorium was opened, the inside white and neat, without any disturbance from others. It was just a simple ceremony. The black and white photos of his father were placed in the middle of the bouquets, and seeing the kind smile, Xiao Ruoyi's eyes was filled with tears.

It was quiet all around. Xiao Ruoyi slowly walked towards his father's portrait. Every step was so heavy, as if she couldn't control her legs, and her every move was full of tiredness.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Don't be too sad. I believe that uncle will be heartbroken when he sees you in heaven." Bai Yichen standing beside Xiao Ruoyi, wanted to comfort her, but he didn't know what to say. He knew how deeply they loved each other. Now that things had happened so suddenly, how could she accept it?

Xiao Ruoyi raised her finger and touched the cold photo. The person in the photo always smiled warmly, but he was lifeless now.

"Thank you, Yichen." Xiao Ruoyi held the photo of her father in her arms and looked at the carefully arranged surroundings. She felt warm for the first time in the past few days.

She wiped the edge of the photo carefully and told herself to be strong in her heart. Now, she was the only hope of the Xiao family.

"No matter what happens, I will always be by your side. Ruoyi, I..."

Before Bai Yichen could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind him. The two of them looked over together, finding that He Yuzhe walked in with no expression on his face, and that his cold eyes seemed to be freezing.

"Father-daughter bonding and the hero saves the damsel in distress. This play is really wonderful, but unfortunately, there is no audience." He Yuzhe's clapped his hands slowly, the clapping echoing in the empty auditorium, sounding completely ironical.

Xiao Ruoyi held onto the photos in her arms tightly and could not help but take a step back, her eyes vigilant.

"He Yuzhe, what do you want to do?" Bai Yichen stepped out and stood beside Xiao Ruoyi, protecting her with one hand.

He Yuzhe did not answer. He looked around and sneered. "It really makes me sick." After saying that, he suddenly lifted his hand and knocked over a vase on the small table.

The flowers fell on the ground, in stark contrast to the white floor. The water spread and flowed straight to the bottom of Xiao Ruoyi's shoes.

"He Yuzhe, you've gone too far. Uncle Xiao didn't do anything wrong. Why are you treating the Xiao family like this? Do you know what you're doing?" Bai Yichen frowned and his voice was slightly hoarse. He pushed Xiao Ruoyi behind him again.

Ever since he returned from abroad, He Yuzhe seemed to have become a different person, cold and heartless, and even more ruthless towards the Xiao family.

"Xiao Haotian knows what he has done, and I don't need you to remind me what I'm doing."

He Yuzhe quickened his pace, but he directly walked past the two of them. His eyes filled with anger were fixed on the urn on the table, then he raised his hand.
