Melinda woke up quite late on Saturday morning after which she made herself a cup of coffee and decided to do some office work at home. She didn’t even know that time had gone until she decided to take a break by checking her social media account. After that, she decided to take a shower and go over to her Parent’s house to surprise them and maybe head to Desourire’s place later on.

Melinda looked at the mirror satisfied with her look. She was about to put on her shoes when the doorbell rang. Mel was surprised as she wasn’t expecting anyone. Nevertheless, she went ahead to open the door and came face to face with the last person she wanted to see, Frank.

Before she could even ask him what he was doing at her apartment, Frank bagged in.

“Heyy. Don’t you have any more manners? How dare you enter my Apartment without me asking you to come in.” Mel shouted at him after she closed the door behind her.

“Oh, I see. Is that how you now talk to your husband?” Frank said as he sat comfortably on the couch after which he crossed his right leg over the left one.

“You are not my husband,” Mel said through gritted teeth.

“Mel you are still as stubborn as I remember.” Frank chuckled. “Won’t you welcome me by giving me something to drink.” He said while Mel rolled her eyes.

“Why are you here?” Mel asked angrily.

“Well, I came to see if you have changed your mind about accepting my deal,” Frank said proudly.

Frank refused to grant Melinda a divorce. And when he eventually changed his mind, he decided he will grant her a Divorce provided she gives him 60 percent of her property which Mel refused.

“You know I feel so stupid that I fell for your seduction. You are nothing but a Beast. A dirty and disgusting individual. You are wrong if you think you are going to get a dime from me.” Mel said and Frank laughed as if what she said was funny.

“You know what Melinda, I’m glad you admitted that you were stupid enough to fall for me. Come on, How do you expect a man like me to like you, not to talk of falling in love with you. Sorry to say, Melinda, you are not my type. In fact, you are not any man’s type because you are not wife material.” Frank said.

Frank’s words truly hurt Melinda but she was determined not to cry. She will not let him see her being weak.

“Do you know what attracted me to you when I first saw you, Your wealth Melinda. Your wealth attracted me to you. I knew I could get a fortune out of you that’s why I seduced you into marriage. To be sincere, I don’t think there will be any man in his right senses that will ever fall in love with you because you are as ugly as hell. “Enough!” Mel shouted before he could complete his sentence. Tears were already rolling down her cheeks.

“Get out of my house... Leave.” Mel shouted.

“I will leave but when you change your mind, you know where to find me,” Frank said with a smirk on his face.

“Get out!” Mel pointed to the exit.

Frank left, slamming the door behind him and Melinda fell on the floor beside her couch as she burst into uncontrollable tears.

Alexander just finished running errands for Melinda’s dad at the Mansion. So instead of heading home, to his own apartment, He decided to branch Melinda’s Apartment. He was not sure why he was going there but he felt he should. As he was entering the Lobby, he came across Frank who he recognised to be Melinda’s soon to be divorced husband. Frank gave Alex an irritating glare and refused to respond to his greetings.

Alexander neglected his rudeness and headed to Mel’s Apartment. As soon as he reached the front of her door, he pressed the doorbell twice and nobody answered.“maybe she’s not around which is why Frank gave me that annoying look.” Alex said to himself. In other to be sure, Alex tried to open the door and luckily for him the door was opened and he was welcomed by the sound of someone crying. He looked at the direction and his heart broke at what he saw.

The woman he loves was sitting on the floor crying her eyes out. Alex went to where she was and sat beside her on the floor. He pulled her into a hug and Melinda cried into his chest.

“That bastard,” Alex muttered internally. No doubt Frank caused this.

“Shhh...It’s okay baby. Don’t cry again. I’m here for you Mel.” Alex said as he kept on caressing her hair which made Melinda cry harder.

“A few minutes later, Melinda pulled away from the hug and looked straight into Alex’s eyes with her red puffy eyes.

“A..Alex, I want you to be honest with me. What you feel for me, Is it real? Were you serious when you said you love me?” Mel sniffed.

Alex pulled her on his lap without both of them breaking their eye contact.

“What I feel for you is real Melinda. I would never play with your feelings. I fell in love with you the first day I set my eyes on you.” Alex said and Mel hid her face in his chest as she started crying again.

“Its okay baby. don’t cry.” Alex comforted her by speaking soothing words into her ear.

“I think I feel the same way about you too,” Mel whispered in his chest and Alex sighed a sigh of relief. She finally admitted her feelings for him.

She removed her face from his chest and looked him in his eye. “I’ve always wanted someone that will love me for who I am and not for what I have.” She said.

“Mel I love you because of you and not because of your wealth,” Alex assured.

“I tried not to fall for you Alex. You made me feel things I’ve never felt before. That’s why I kept pushing you away. And I realised that the more I push you away, the more I fall for you. Thank you for fighting for me Alex. Thank you for not giving up on me.” Mel said after which she pulled Alex into a hug and he kissed her forehead.

“Do you mind if this stays between the two of us. At least for now, until my Divorce is settled.” Mel pleaded.

“I have no problem with that. Just know that I’m ready to defend our love to the world and I would never take advantage of you.” Alex assured and Mel nodded.

“I know, that’s why I fell for you.” Mel chuckled as the hugged Alex back. She hid her face in the crook of his neck, inhaled his scent until she fell asleep in his arms.
