Chapter 2

"What a ... pungent smell it is. What is this?" The vampire asked, wondering what was Evangeline and Daphne doing at the kitchen stove while Miss Kingston preparing the tables for breakfast.

"We're making eggs and hotdogs. And it's not pungent, it's aromatic," Imperia look away and took a seat at the table. Her eyes wander and find itself in today's newspaper. She skimmed the news until she stumbled upon a new discovery of an ancient tomb.

She smiled before being served by Evangeline who's blood awakened her from her slumber.

"Miss Kingston, What is this about an ancient tomb being discovered by archaeologist? Why aren't you taking part in this discovery?" Imperia asked while poking her food with a plastic fork.

"Because the museum doesn't see my credentials as an anthropologist. They see me as a joke for studying a 'vampire'. No offence," Imperia waved it off.

"This tomb..." she placed the newspaper down before tapping her nails on the picture that was published.

"I want to see this tomb. I think I know who does it belongs to," Imperia smile. Miss Kingston turned her attention to the students.

"Am I dreaming? Did the vampire just said what I think she said?" Both Evangeline and Daphne nodding their head while eating their breakfast. They were forced to stay with the anthropologist because she's too afraid to be alone with the vampire.

"I'm not being rude here but we can't simply waltz into a site like a mall. We need a special invitation by the archaeologist itself. This is a big find, it's dated back to more than 2500 years ago ..." Miss Kingston suddenly gasped.

"Don't tell me... you know who resides inside the tomb?" Imperia smiled before looking at the pictures again.

"From this... view I'm seeing. The weapons... the jewels, the pots that were included in the burial chamber ... it belongs to ... my lover," Imperia smiled. It's been millennia since she last saw her lover.

"What's the story with her death?" Evangeline asked.

"She's not dead. She was ordered to be buried alive by my father. He's afraid that she might bring me back to life so... she was cast away from Gotus and deliberately erased from the history text. I want her back, Miss Kingston. I need my lover," Miss Kingston was having seconds thoughts about this.

"You're a walking history. I can't simply waltz into an active site because someone who supposes to be inside the casket asked me to," Imperia stood up from her chair and looks out at the windows on the humans.

She once despises human to the core of her body. But now, she seeking help from the same creature that she despises the most.

"My lover needs me. She needs me, that's all I can say. But if you unwilling to help me in finding my love for me, I have to choice but to do it myself. You know how easy I am too lost control since I haven't had a sip of blood since I'm woken up. I wonder how many humans shall I purge for my thirst," Miss Kingston sigh heavily.

"Is this her way of making me doing her bidding?" Miss Kingston asked the students who nod, again.

"I'm going to regret this ..." Miss Kingston sigh get again.

"What are you doing here, Miss Kingston? I thought I told you that you're no longer in service for this museum!" The curator doesn't hold back when he saw Miss Kingston with the students and a mysterious woman walks up to the entrance to the site.

"Please, not now. I'm here just to see the progress. I know the archaeologist. She's a friend of mine," The curator was about to chase them out before a friend of Miss Kingston greeted them with a shake.

"It's fine Mr Wale. She's with me. Ahh, you must be the students she told me about. Come on, I'm sure it's important for your thesis. Miss Kingston has been such a great friend to me so of course, I let her see the site herself," the curator wasn't happy about this. He's about to say something when Imperia blew her breath on the curator's face and leave him disoriented for a couple of minutes.

"Now stay there, silently," Imperia smiled before following the others into the tomb. She looks around, smiling from ear to ear because she knows she came to the right place.

"This is the place alright," her eyes landed on a sarcophagus in the middle of the room. That is where her lover resides. But before she could touch it, the archaeologist speaks up.

"We stumbled upon this while we were searching for a lost tomb. Well, we did find a lost tomb but it seems like there is nothing that can show us who were buried here. But these pots, they remind me of the Gold Casket. It has the same wiring and I'm sure you can translate that to us," Miss Kingston turned to the pots and was fascinated by it.

"This is one marvellous find, Rita. Marvellous indeed. They're exactly the same. If it does, the sarcophagus should tell us a name and it's origin, like the ones on the Gold Casket," Miss Kingston begin to translate the text on the pots.

"It says here that she was born as a princess ... fallen in love with a queen ... their relationship was not accepted by both side ... she was... buried alive for he crimes... of... siding the queen," Miss Kingston turned to the vampire who stood there, not knowing what to do.

"Her name was Keres," Imperia finally spoke out.

"Keres? As in ... vengeful spirits of death.. and doom?" Rita or Miss Waters turns to the anthropologist.

"Who is she?" Miss Kingston was about to introduce them when suddenly the excavator simply fell asleep as they were working. The archaeologist was baffled by this until Imperia removed the top covers of the sarcophagus.

"What are you doing?! This is a scientific research! You shouldn't interfere like ..." she froze when she came face to face with a perfect human being.

"She is not dead, human. She is my lover... princess Keres Lucine," Imperia leans in, biting the neck of the sleeping beauty inside the sarcophagus, drawing her energy into the lifeless corpse.

It didn't take long for princess Keres to regained her strength back. Once she opened her eyes for over a millennium, Imperia smiled, glad that she managed to see her lover again.

"Imperia?" Princess Keres took a long, deep breath since it's been ages since she woken up.

"It is I..." they kissed... passionately before princess Keres smelled the fresh scented blood flowing through the human's veins.

"There, there my princess... you won't be needing their blood now.. control yourself, I command you," Imperia whispered into her lover's ear.

***

"Thank you miss waters, for this supply of blood. Here, a token of gratitude from me," Miss waters how her head, politely decline the vampire's gift.

"Humans baffles me. They simply don't want any jewels or gold as a gift instead, they want knowledge," that interested Keres, the princess of death and doom.

"Knowledge? About Gotus? Here some insight into what happened right before we were both separated. Her father, the former king decided to dethrone Imperia from the throne because his many wives gave birth to a male heir. The throne is rightfully hers and hers alone! I was supposed to be queen but before I even get to marry my love, he simply took Imperia's throne and gave it to his only son!" Imperia touches Keres's shoulder.

"What? Don't you want revenge, my queen?" Imperia place a finger on Keres's lips.

"You've made the humans intrigued to know more about Gotus, my lovely princess," Keres now noticed the humans has a piece of paper and holding a pen while looking at her, waiting for a story.

"Gotus was the once proud kingdom of the vampires. We despise humans as much you humans hate us. We live together peacefully with witches who at the Rome known to be the healers when it comes to illness. After Imperia become the queen of Gotus, even though for a short amount of time, she brought wealth and more power towards the empire. That is until the former king wants his son, who he had with a maid to replace Imperia! He's not even a pureblood like Imperia does!" Evangeline was triggered.

"So he... killed you by stabbing a silver knife into you?" Evangeline asked before the vampire nod her head.

"Say, humans, what if I told you that you'll be living in the laps of luxury if you all help me fulfil my last request?" None of them responded. As much as they wanted to be rich, doing something illegal is wrong. And they're all wanted to continue to do what they do best, finding antiquities and ancient relic.

"Keres, tell me what they truly say in their minds," the princess smiled.

"This woman thinking about how impossible it is for us to even be alive. This woman doesn't want anything to do with illegal activity and these two lovely ladies just want to graduate and continue their work as researchers. Don't they know how much history we have?"

"No one does, my princess. We were erased from history, don't you remember?" Imperia face the humans with a hopeful stare.

"I was buried alive because I fight for my right as the true heir. My lover had to endure so many just because we love each other. I was forced to engage with a man because my father wants an heir. My half-brother took my place as the ruler and leave me with nothing. I was killed, got my inside turned to liquid because my father doesn't want his son to not be the next king. I've had enough of suffering all throughout my life, humans. I just want to have back what truly is mine and that's the throne of Gotus Empire,"

"Gotus Empire doesn't exist anymore," Miss Kingston said while avoiding eye contact.

"Well, if that's the case, we shall hunt for those who erased us from history. We were called as betrayer for far too long, humans. We believed there is a secret vampire clan living among you," the humans all look up to the princess.

"What? That's impossible," Miss Kingston laughed it off.

"The curator is a descendant of a famous warlock. I can smell those kinds from miles away. I want you, humans, to find the leader of this clan for me so I can ask a few questions. Every quest needs an army and I think I can find some right here in the city," Imperia smiled.

"It's not easy for us to ask around. We can't simply ask a person 'hey, you know where the vampires at?' We'll look crazy!" Keres looks up and down at how Miss Kingston dressed.

"Well, if you continue to wear clothes like that, of course, they'll think you're crazy. Imperia, please give some money for them to buy decent clothes. I can't stand watching these low breed degrading themselves," the humans were offended.

"Keres, control yourself, I command you," Imperia went to one of the books on Miss Kingston shelves and show the humans that she wants to meet this person.

"I have to see this person, well, this mummy if that's what you called them now," the humans were baffled.

"But this is in Egypt! We can't afford to go to Egypt, we're banned from Egypt for... almost ... almost... destroyed an ancient artefact," Miss Waters said without batting an eye.

"Oh please, I can handle that much. What's the point of having Keres here. She can manipulate both men and women to do her bidding. I mean, she can do it now for you but I need your brains and knowledge of the modern world to make this happen. Besides, we both have all the riches for your worldly needs to get us here, to see our old friend," Imperia smile, delighted that none of them said no.

***

"This is not how Egypt was in the olden days. How did these buildings miraculously built here? Humans," Imperia waved it off.

"Should we go to the museum first? I guess that's where all the ancient mummies are and I'm sure whoever you're searching for is also being kept safe in the museum," Miss Waters suggested.

"Really now? Maybe that's where we should go first. Just to make sure," Imperia grab a hold of Keres's waist when she's about to attack a human.

"Control yourself, my princess. You'll have your fair share of blood soon enough. Lead the way, Miss Waters," The archaeologist asked the two students to rent a car for their users while in Egypt.

When the two vampires step out into the hot air of Egypt, they both begin reminiscing about the ancient days where they were guest here. They remembered how extravagant the parties were when the pharaoh or the royal members host a party for the good and bad of their kingdom.

"Miss Kingston, who is that man waving at us?" Miss Kingston turned around but immediately turned back to Miss Waters when she noticed who Imperia was talking about.

"Oh God no! I really to see him right now. Please, Let's just go," before Miss Kingston could run away from this man, he approaches them with a big smile.

"My my, Miss Kingston and Miss Waters back in Egypt! This is such a remarkable meeting, yes indeed. So, what brings you two back to Egypt? I thought the Egyptian antiquities banned you two from coming back here. Is this about the recent Jane Doe mummy that was discovered near the great pyramid?" That piqued Imperia's interest.

"Tell me about this Jane Doe mummy. Why does it call as Jane Doe?" Imperia asked the man.

"From what my supervisor said, a team from France discovered a hidden tomb a few kilometres from the great pyramid. It belongs to a royal member but we just don't know from which era. That's why we were summoned. Say, are you also an archaeologist? Or perhaps an anthropologist? Or historians who intrigued in ancient history?" The man asked. Imperia smiled.

"We manage to get a car big enough for us," Evangeline and Daphne announced.

"Oh, hello," Evangeline shake hands with the man and introduced herself and so does Daphne.

"Do you have any other information regarding this recently discovered mummy?" The man thinks for a second before shaking his head no.

"Well, nothing so far except for the fact that a golden spear literally pierced into the sarcophagus. As if it was something the ancient Egyptian priest tried to do to keep whatever it is inside the sarcophagus for a long, long eternity," Imperia chuckled and so does Keres.

"Seems like luck has turned to our side after so long. I think we can definitely reunite with everyone if this is how it goes from now on," Imperia whispered before kissing Keres's temple.

***

"How ... is this possible? We've been granted an exclusive pass just to see this mummy before anyone else could!" Miss waters literally jumping in pure joys as they waited for the excavator to opened the door towards the hidden tomb.

"Keres can do many, many things with her mind. It's not hard for her to lure humans and creatures alike to do her bidding. Now humans, shine your torches, lead the way to this mummy," both Miss Waters and Miss Kingston delightedly lead the way. They followed the path where the excavator had dig to get to the location.

Once they arrived inside a huge space, Miss Waters froze when she noticed something ... familiar.

"Guys... this is it. This is the tomb Alright, look hieroglyphs. This can tell us who does this tomb belongs to," Miss Waters was about to touch the stone wall that has hieroglyphics letters on them when Keres grab a hold around her waist and pulled her away.

"Lesson number 1, human. Never... touch the wall of a cursed tomb. You're about to touch a spell that will put a thousand years curse on yourself. How naive can you be?" Keres let go of Miss Waters before she went back to Imperia's side.

"What Keres meant was..." Imperia walk towards a section of the wall and placed her hand on the walls. Her hands suddenly turned pitch black from the curse that placed here by the Gods itself.

"That is one mean to curse. For us undead, this is nothing but a little cut. But for humans, like you all, it means death. Once you touch the walls, nothing can stop the curse from grasping your heart and end your life," Imperia hummed as she walks around, reading the hieroglyphic letters on the wall.

"Ahh. There you are," the others went to Imperia side and was captivated by the sight of something they never saw before.

"What ... a beautiful ... beautiful sarcophagus this is... why would the ancient priest did this to a beautiful woman?" Imperia was surprised.

"How did you know she's beautiful?" Miss Kingston shows the face that was carved on the sarcophagus.

"Whatever it is, even though they did pierce this golden spear through it, they still carve the face of the person inside here with great detail. She was beautiful, isn't she?" Imperia smiled before releasing Keres again.

"She was, yes. Now, take a few steps back from it. Keres will begin her ritual now," Miss Waters was dragged away by Miss Kingston. She knows it too well to not follow the vampire's instruction.

Keres jumped up on top of the sarcophagus and tried to pull the golden spear away. Once she did, she threw the spear on the stone floor and kneel. She knocks on a few times before jumped off the sarcophagus and removed the top.

Keres begin to remove the death shroud that was used to wrap the mummy's body with. Once she's done, she leans in and whispered into the mummy's ears.

"Hotep ..." The mummy suddenly rises from the sarcophagus and faces Imperia with its eyes closed shut. The humans were too scared to even look at the mummy. Miss Kingston brave herself until she noticed how the ancient old flesh just literally separated itself from the bones.

"Hotep, how are you?" The mummy smiled before slowly changing its corpse like feature to a more suitable site to see.

"I was imprisoned for thousands of years for killing my own family. But then again, I don't mind," Miss waters gasped dramatically.

"Hotep?! As in... the dark princess who massacre the royal family, her own family because she wants to be the next ruler of Egypt?! THE Hotep who used dark magic for her own gain?" Hotep smiled.

"The one and only. You forgot to add this little detail. I am a vampire,"
