Chapter Three

Sofia got discharge from the hospital days ago and she's been thinking about moving out, she feels like every corner of their house is like a bitter sweet memory for her.

Her father, brother and ex-girlfriend, she's been thinking about them lately making her to somehow forget about finding Emma.

During at night, she will dream some events that felt so real and when she wakes up she'll realize that it was all Irene's memories.

"I need to find a new house, I'm moving out."

"You're not going anywhere, Sofia." Adeline is not favored to her daughter's idea "You're still not healed."

"I'm not saying that I will move out right at this moment, mom. Obviously, I can see my casted arm and leg and my crutches over there, I know that I'm not perfectly fine but I need to move out soon. I'll use the money that dad left to us to buy a house." Sofia argued "It's not like we're kids forever."

Adeline turned off the vacuum cleaner "I'm not ready yet to let go my baby girl."

"I'm not a baby anymore, mom. I got cheated on and crashed my car just weeks ago; a baby can't do those things." Sofia said "Give this to me, mom. Besides, you're always away nothing much will change."

Adeline felt guilty for choosing work over her family for many times "We already talked about that, Sofia. I'm working for..."

"You're working for our future. I know that because you kept on saying that for years now. You're always thinking about the future but how about the present? Our birthdays that you missed because of your work, you weren't there to congratulate me when I got my first part time job. You're always not here."

Adeline sighed "We're discussing this matter over and over again, Sofia. I'm sorry, okay? Do you think it was easy for me to miss all the important events in your life? It was hard for me too, Sofia. This, our situation, me and your dad agreed to it. I'll work and he stays here to take care of you. I'm sorry. Forgive me but I need that work."

"I love your mom so much, hon. she's the only woman that I ever loved."

Marco and Sofia are sitting on the porch in the middle of a silent and peaceful night; talking about life and stuffs. Sofia loves this time of moment with her dad.

"Don't ever tell your mom about this. When I married your mom; I married a woman that full of dreams, I knew from the start that she's not just a typical woman. We're always fighting over our work; I have mine and she also has hers but we also have you. I asked her to resign from her work so she can focus with you and your brother but she refused. She said that she's not a woman that stays at home. She hired a baby sitter instead but it didn't work. I can't count how many times we fought and argued over her work. Every time we fight, she'll compare our salary like she's slapping to my face how fuck up my work was. When your brother got sick and we almost lost him I decided to resign from my work and focus on you two. Everyday that passed by is tormenting my ego but it doesn't matter anymore as long as your mom is fine with her work and our kids are fine too."

Sofia won't forget that night because it was the first time she saw her father tearing up and because of that night she proved that unconditional love exists.

"If your father is still here he would not agree with your..."

"That's the fucking point, mom!" Sofia touched the bandage around her head because of the pain she felt from the sudden outburst "I want to move out because the only person that makes me want to stay here is already gone. Everywhere I look I remember dad, his memories in everywhere in this house and I can't stand it! I still can't accept that dad is gone. Dad won't like it either if I keep tormenting myself from his memories inside this house. I'm moving out and that's final."

Adeline is defeated, she knew that her daughter is telling the truth, Marco's memories are everywhere in their house. It was a shame for her because her kids had more memories with their dad than she had with her husband.

She walked out from her daughter's room without uttering a word and when she's finally outside, she broke down. Her kids can't understand the pain she's keeping inside, she lost her other half; it's like the half of her is dead but she have to be strong for her children.

"Marco, I never thought that your lost will be this painful for us." She clutched her chest due to the pain "How can I be a mother and a father to them at the same time?"

"I already warned you about that bitch but you didn't listen."

Sofia's friends visited her after school; she can't deny that she missed them.

"Ruby is right, the first time I saw that Olivia I already had a bad vibes about her. What are you going to do now?" Jessica supported Ruby's statement

"I don't care about her anymore; she can fuck my brother for all I care. I'm done with her." Sofia said

"That fast?"

Madison's question caught everyone's attention making Sofia to question herself. She loved Olivia for three years why she can't even feel any pain or regret? Emma. Every time she thinks about that girl, she feel like there is a zoo inside her stomach at the same time her heart is like a tiger wanting to free from its cage.

"Maybe because I already accepted it or I feel numb already? Things are overwhelming for me this month. Dad just died weeks ago."

"Excuses, Emily already told us about the Emma girl." Ruby teased "Tell us about her."

"About her?"

Sofia doesn't know anything about the girl she's looking for. Her name is the only things she know about the girl.

"I only know her name and her face." Sofia admitted

"That's impossible, how can we find her?" Emily said

"Everything is still a mystery for us, Sofia but we are willing to help. If I need to hire someone who can sketch Emma's face I will do it." Jessica said to comfort her friend

"Let me draw you, love."

Emma willingly posed for Irene, she will do everything just to make Irene's remaining days happy and memorable for both of them.

Irene was good in drawing, her favorite muse was her girlfriend Emma. They often go to beach just to have a beautiful scenery.

"I can't draw your tears here, love. Stop crying." Irene put down her pencil and walked over to her girlfriend "We're here to have fun."

Irene wished to have alone time with Emma in the beach for the last time. She knew to herself that her days are counted.

"How can I move on, love?" Emma's voice is full her agony "I'm not ready for this."

The waves, birds and the sun that is about to kiss the horizon are the witness to their painful and last moment in the beach.

Irene cupped her girlfriend's face "You need to ready yourself, love. I need you to promise me one thing. Promise me that I'm not the last person you will love, I want you to have a new start with someone you love; with someone that loves you."

Emma shook her head "I can't. We promised each other that we won't..."

"I'm dying, love. I can't fulfill that promise anymore. I can feel my body getting weaker everyday. I love you, Emma but I'm leaving you soon. It hurts but we can't do anything about it. Please, promise me that you will find someone who can surpass the love I gave to you."

Though it's against her will, Emma nodded "I promise."
