CHAPTER THREE

Years before, she and Andrew discovered the small attic, which in the past had been used for storage. The twins had instantly made it their secret place- a place where no one will bother them, they stored some clothes and toys in there, where they will pretend to be a pirate or a bandit. And sometimes, together they will lie on the floor, arms folded under their heads and stare through the hole in the roof Looking at the sky. Sharing little secrets and dreams.

But that was in the past, Andrea thought sadly. Now she's alone and don't know where to go or what to do. One thing she's sure of, she will never let them take what is truly hers, even if it means that she has to leave and never return to her own home for the meantime. She will never let them suck her dry by those lecherous people.

The Dela Peña firmly believed that her fortunes and her life were their to dispose as they wished. But She was not going to let it happen, she vowed grimly, the determination that has always been hers wakening and stirring from its long sleep, promising in the name of her dead family, she will take everything back at the right time!

She begun to dwell upon the methods she could use to accomplish. At first she was thinking to work as a Nanny or a governess or a barmaid, but she knows that when the Dela Peña, realize that she was gone, the first thing they'll do is to let anyone knows that she's missing and it won't take too long for them to find her. Besides, she's not sure whether there's some noble family who doesn't know her appearance.

Maybe she'll disguised as a boy, that'll be the last resort she was thinking. If she disguise as a boy, she can work with anything, and hiding will be easier. After a few more minutes of thinking she decided to cut her long and smooth silky black hair, looking at a piece of small and broken mirror in the room, she looks at herself and smile at her new appearance. After she's satisfied with the new hair, she took out the old and tattered clothes of her twin brother, Andrew and change into it. Once again she examined the little boy she saw in the mirror, and smiled absentmindedly. She picked up her dress and some paraphernalia along with the necklace with a frame pendant that contains their family picture and study it for the last time before she put it inside of the clothes along with some jewelry she might needed when the right time comes in. She knew that she must leave K city in order for her to be able to breath and move even more freely. It's her only way to gain her freedom.

With the new determination and a plan, she double checked herself in a glass and when she's satisfied she picked up her small bag where she put a pair of clothes and a few coins because she knows that she can not bring too much money unless she wants to be suspicious, she have to work to earn her own living expenditure from now on.

Starting that moment, she's no longer Andrea Clarise Zaragoza! Starting today she'll be called as Drew, an orphan who escaped from his abused relatives. She picked up her things and put in a bundle and dig a hole near the oak tree where she bury them, after she's sure that she buried all her precious things such as her necklace, some heirlooms from her family along with her father's stamp or seal and her clothes, she put a mark near the big oak tree not too far away from the attic,it was a symbol that she and her twin bother only knew. She knew that the Dela Peña, can't do anything stupid like selling their properties without the stamp, that's why she keeps it and to make sure that when she comes back the damage wouldn't be that really hard. And she needed it to prove who she really is when the time is right to claim her rights.

After she's sure that everything is set and no trace of her can be seen in the attic, she left the place without looking back. But full of promises that she intends to keep.

She walked through the night, making sure that she doesn't attract attention by anyone. She only walk in apart where there's not much carriages is passing by.

After a few hours of walking, she reached one of the oldest inns, in the town where she planned to ask if there's any job that she can do in exchange for free food or if she can stay for a night in the stable.

She was about to go to the backdoor when she heard the two men talking about a gentleman who's looking for a seamen.

She listened carefully about the information of the gentleman and after the two men disappear she looked outside of the stable and check for the magnificent horse, because as the two men says, the gentleman owned the magnificent horse that was in a stable.

She saw a thoroughbred black horse in the stable and without a doubt this is the horse of that gentleman, the horse is as black as the night and it when you look at it you can tell that whoever owns it, they groom it really well.

She knew how to look for a good horse since they owned a few before and she and Andrew likes to talk to Mr. Smith their head horse groomer.

She abandon the thought of working at the inn for the meantime and decided to sit near the horse to wait for its master. After an hour of waiting, the gentleman came and was about to leave when he heard a scruffy voice. One foot already in the stirrup and ready to hop on.

"Please, sir, are you the gentleman who is looking for a seaman?" A tiny voice asked to a man who is about to ride his magnificient horse.
