Chapter-3 Promise

Even after entering the secretary department, he still said those words. Everyone around him looked at him like he had finally gone crazy after working with their boss. A few of the secretaries still walked near him to know what had happened to him and why is he gibberish.

“What do you mean by he is getting married? Who is getting married?” Rosaline asked without hiding her gossiping nature.

“Our boss!” Larry responded with glittering eyes.

“What? Our boss?” Rosaline’s shout made others in that secretary department rush near them.

“Our boss is getting married!” Everyone exclaimed and looked at one another.

“No way. He must be dreaming about getting married to our boss. Just because our boss always takes you for every meeting he attends, it doesn’t mean he is going to marry you. Come out of your daydreaming, Larry. It is not good for your health. Everyone, let us all go back to work and stop wasting our time with this daydreamer… If our bossy lady comes back, then we will all be in trouble.” Sara had almost convinced everyone that it was his wishful thinking.

But what Larry said next, made them surround him once again.

“Our boss is not marrying me! First of all, I am not even his lover. How many times do I need to clarify this? He is marrying a woman and that too it’s going to happen tomorrow!

He dropped the bomb and expected the women around him would start to cry. He even lifted his hands to cover his ears to escape from their mourning.

Even though they all believed that their president was gay, still everyone around him had a crush on him. Anyways, who would not like a handsome man with almost eight packs? Also, he is the number one richest man in this town.

“Stop spouting nonsense. We all know that he is gay. How could he marry a woman? Didn’t you say that it’s going to happen tomorrow? If the president of Rossbee international corporation is going to get married, do you think it would not get published in even one of those newspapers or broadcasted in some news channels? Or at least some articles regarding that would definitely make the headlines in those gossiping channels and websites. Why do you have to lie just because we already know your relationship with the president?” Rosaline huffed.

“I don’t have any relationship with the president other than being his PA. I am a straight guy and I already have a girlfriend!” Larry declared.

“Just to cover up one truth, how many more lies would you keep on saying? Didn’t our president say in last week's interview that he is still single and he doesn't think that he would be in a relationship anytime soon?” Sara asked.

At that moment Susan, the head secretary entered the secretary department. She saw her team dilly-dallying around Larry and even having a useless conversation with him.

“Why are you all wasting your time standing around Larry’s desk? Isn’t it way past lunch break? Didn’t the marketing team ask us to inform the finance team that the purchase of the ‘Victor group of companies’ can be carried out now? Did anyone inform them about that?” Susan asked.

“Looks like the owner of that company is seriously ill. It would be a major deal for us if we acquired that company. Even though the owner was sick for a long time now, still the value of the company did not fall. It had been on the rise even after that.” Sara whispered near Rosaline’s ears.

“Should I ask the HR to process all your last paychecks? Maybe I should hire a more efficient team next time!” Susan commented after losing her patience with this gossiping team.

“Susan, do you know our president is getting married?” Rosaline asked while ignoring her warning.

Susan had a headache handling these people who worked below her. Especially Rosaline, as she had come through the back door, she could not do anything to her. She never did any work other than gossiping throughout the day.

“If our president is getting married then it is his private business. Now hurry up and contact the finance team…” Before she could issue the order, Larry interfered.

“Susan, regarding that ‘Victor group of companies’, our president had ordered us to put it on hold for now. He also asked us to stop any further acquisition of the company.” Larry said.

“Larry, I am currently disappointed with you right now! Being a personal assistant for our president might not be an easy job for you. But instead of carrying out the work that was given to you, you are busy gossiping with all these beautiful ladies at work about his marriage? Did you inform the president’s order to the vice president?” Susan asked while trying not to lose her mind.

“Not yet,” Larry said while sweating a lot.

Even though Larry held an equal position to Susan, he still could not stop following all the orders issued by this young lady. As she was his girlfriend, he feared her the most compared to the president himself.

“Then run… what are you waiting for?” Susan ordered.

She turned around and looked at her useless team. They all were still looking at her with a dazzled expression. They did not expect the bossy lady to even dictate Larry.

If it was not the vice president’s request to hire these dolls with no brains, Susan would have never chosen any of them present in that room. She took a deep breath to control her frustration and anger that was about to burst out.

“Do I need to even spoon-feed you all that you have to call every department in our company to tell them that we are going to stop working on this project? Did you not hear what Larry said? We are not acquiring the victor group of companies anymore. Come on, hurry up! We do not have much time in our hands…” Susan urged them and rushed towards the finance team herself.

She had a meeting with the finance team director earlier and they were already starting to process the funds for the purchase. When the whole company was busy running around to stop the acquisition, Jason was busy with some other task.

He looked at all the wedding rings that were kept in front of him. He did not like even a single one. Nothing was enticing and he felt like those were not to Amy’s taste.

“Is this all you have?” Jason asked with slight irritation.

“What do you mean by this was all we have? Even if you go around the whole town, you cannot see a collection like ours!” Matt hit his friend’s shoulder and said.

“Who knows? I can find one that Amy would like in a small jewelry shop next town.” Jason muttered.

“Just because you are my friend, I am tolerating your behavior so far. Do not forget, there is no other shop in this whole world that would have such a huge collection. And will even allow you to enter inside their secret stash,” Matt argued.

“What a secret stash you have here? Look at this one, it’s designed so horribly.” Jason took one of the rings from the luxuriously designed box and shook it in front of Matt’s eyes.

That ring was designed by Matt himself and it had won several awards for its unique style and design. So many famous people had already been placing pre-orders and were even ready to pay a huge sum of money for that ring.

Matt pulled the ring from his hand and kept it safely back into the box. He closed the lid and signaled his assistant to take them away.

“If you do not like it, then you do not have to buy it from me. Just get out of my shop right now. Go and search for other jewelers. I am not going to stop you. I hope that you will find the ring that would suit you Amy's taste before your marriage tomorrow.” Matt declared and leaned back on his chair.

At first, he was pleasantly surprised when he received a call from his friend saying that he would be visiting one of his shops. Then the surprise turned to shock when he said he is going to get married tomorrow.

When Jason called him, Matt was having an important meeting with one of his most important clients. He wanted him to custom design a wedding ring for his sister’s marriage. He had just started the conversation with him when he got Jason’s phone call.

He immediately apologized to him and promised him that he would prepare two designs for the couple as compensation for leaving early that day. He rushed to his shop, only to meet with Jason’s disapproval look.

“You are the worst in customer satisfaction. Don’t you know that the customer is always right?” Jason asked.

“Nope. I don’t know and I don’t want to know. My employees never had to deal with such a difficult customer like you. Because I handle them directly myself. So that I can find out if they are my customers or some time wasters just like you!” Matt huffed.

He then pulled him up by his collar and dragged him outside.

“Let me go! How dare you! In front of so many people, you held my collar.” Jason shouted in protest.

“Keep quiet! And come home with me…” Matt pulled him towards his car.

Jason hit his hands and finally escaped out of his grip. He then pushed him away and rushed towards his car.

“I drive!” He declared and started the car engine.

“No… we are not taking that car, but this one,” Matt said and walked towards his brand new sports car that was parked next to Jason's car.

Jason put his head outside the window of the car and shouted,

“How about we race? It had been quite a while now. I am not sure if my wife would allow me to continue going out with you after our marriage.
