Chapter One

Ginny thought she heard the sound of footsteps.

She saw the words in pink lipstick on the bedroom mirror.

It read:

BEWARE OF BEARS

After she had a shower, she got dressed.

The campers were out jogging.

Sandra said: 'Come on, Jeff. We got to see Camp Crystal Lake'.

'Why?', Jeff asked her.

'Because I got to see the haunted camp', Sandra answered.

Jeff sighed, and they went over the barrier...and went into the deep woods.

***

The sign read: CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE

Before either of them could say anything, Officer Hal Winslow, 52, said: 'This place is condemned'.

He marched Jeff and Sandra to the Office.

'What you are doing Holt, is good for teenagers. But it is less than a year after the previous murders. Steve Christy died knowing that. And Sheriff Tierney doesn't need Crazy Ralph telling people they're doomed like before. What you're doing Holt is good for the teenagers. But, take it to the next county. It's too dangerous'.

'We're sorry, Paul...Ginny', Jeff said.

'The same', Sandra said.

'What is this camp doing? No punishment', Officer Winslow said.

'Ginny, no seconds for dessert for Jeff and Sandra', Paul said.

Angered, Officer Winslow walked out of the Office.

Officer Winslow was in his patrol car.

Suddenly, he saw Jason Voorhees.

The killer wore a potato sack on his head, and was dressed like a woodsman.

'Hey, you! You're not supposed to be in the woods'.

But the killer didn't care...and wasn't heard.

Officer Winslow grabbed his .9mm gun...and ran into the place that was  reputedly haunted. He was overweight. Exercise wasn't on his agenda. He huffed and puffed like the Big Bad Wolf; he saw an old, dilapidated iron shack. For some reason Officer Winslow heard rumors of the Voorhees family living there. He opened the door. As he did so, he went from room to room. The muddy water seeped into his favorite grey socks; his eyes focused on the intruder. Officer Winslow opened a door. 'Jesus!', he uttered. He backed away with horror. Then, seconds later, Jason Voorhees hit his head with a claw hammer.

And his body crashed to the wet, soggy, water.

The campers were around the warm campfire.

'I don't want to scare you, but I'm going to tell you about Jason Voorhees. His body wasn't recovered from the cold lake back in nineteen fifty-seven, when he supposedly drowned. And the old timers like Crazy Ralph, would tell everyone that they're doomed if you stay at Camp Crystal Lake. It's been a year since Alice Hardy survived that Friday the 13th. And she saw the killer, Mrs. Pamela Sue Voorhees. The other rumor was that Jason took his revenge...and murdered Alice in her house, blaming her to his Mom's death. Some say Jason lives in a shack in the woods. He hunts for food; he hunts for sex-mad teenage campers in the evening. Jason's out here...hunting...looking for wild berries near the oak trees. And he will go from cabin to cabin, eager to spill blood...', Paul's story ended.

Seconds later, Ted, who wore a caveman's uniform, and a spear in his right hand, screamed.

Everyone screamed as well...and the prank had had worked.

***

'How'd I do?', Paul asked Ginny.

'The second act needs a lot more work', she answered.

'Now that's out of your system, does anyone want to go to Earl's Bar for dinner tonight?'.

Everyone raised their hands.

'Okay. Jon, Nate, Mary, and Ted can come. Terri, Vickie, Scott, Jeff, and Sandra...and Mark...will stay'.

They sighed...as the other campers enjoyed their night on the town for dinner, drinks, and listening to a blues band.
