Friday the 13th Part 2 A novel

Prologue-Friday, June 13, 1979

Alice Hardy was nervous.

She had had nightmares of Camp Crystal Lake.

'Who are you?'.

'I am Mrs. Voorhees'.

'Where's Steve?'.

'He's dead'.

'Dead'.

'Yes, dear. I couldn't let him re-open the camp, could I'.

Shadows formed.

And the screams started.

***

Alice saw her art work.

Drawings were on the brown colored table.

The telephone rang.

'Hello'.

Silence; a lot of silence,

***

Alice had a shower.

Afterwards, she grabbed a bath towel, and dried her red hair.

The window was open.

Suddenly the cat jumped into her lap.

She opened the fridge, and gave milk to her cat.

***

The girl, Maddie Gray, nine, said: 'Itsy bitsy spider came up the water spout; down came the rain, and washed poor itsy out'.

'Maddie, dinner's ready!'.

'Okay, Mom'.

She opened the front door, closed it, and took her shoes off...then placed them on the grey colored rug. Jason Voorhees stalked Alice. His boots stomped into the deep puddles; his eyes focused on the Hardy house across from the Grey House. The back door was open. The killer waited, before he made his move.

***

Alice heard the telephone ringing again.

'Hi, Mom. I'm fine, I just survived Camp Crystal Lake. Steve didn't see the truth. Harold made a mistake when he hired Pamela Sue Voorhees; she was unstable'.

'It wasn't his fault'.

'How can you say that, Mom. Dad's in hospital from a heart attack. And...'.

'What is it, Alice?'.

'Someone's in the house'.

Jason Voorhees stabbed her in the head with a knife.

The conversation ended abruptly. .

The kettle boiled, and the coffee was yet to be drinked.

And the killer left the house, then headed towards Camp Crystal Lake.

***

Maddie was glad that dinner was soon.

She had been at school all day.

Now, as night fell, she looked out of the loungeroom window.

'Mom. There's a scary monster outside'.

'I'll call Sheriff Tierney', she said.

She dialled 9-1-1, and asked for the Police.

***

Sheriff Tierney grabbed his .9mm gun.

'Probably a prowler. We can't be too sure. I...'.

The radio sqwaked: 'Sheriff Tierney. There's been a murder at the Hardy house'.

'This is Sheriff Tierney. Alice Hardy's dead, over'.

'Yes, Sheriff. There's a lot of blood in the kitchen. Neighbors heard screams. Over'.

'I'll check around all of the houses. If it is a killer on the loose, I'll arrest the bastard'. He left the house. Police sirens wailed in the night sky. Mass panic caused mayhem in the town of Crystal Lake. The Sheriff, and Deputy Sheriff Jon Dorf, and Officer Hal Winslow, secured the area. For some reason, the mystery of the past had had come back to haunt those who lived there.

And the Sheriff called Alice's parents, who lived in California, and told them that their daughter was dead.

***

Maddie brushed her teeth.

She wore a blue nightgown.

She was tired.

For several years, she had been told of the terror of Camp Blood.

Her sister, Sara, was telling her about her adventures at Camp Tomahawk.

But, as she shivered, the thunder boomed in the night sky, and she dreamed of surviving Friday the 13th.

***

Jeff Sanders, 18, was looking forward to camp.

He was friends with Ted Kramer, the 19 year old counsellor. With them was Sandra Dier, Jeff's 18 year old girlfriend. Jeff had long, blonde hair, blue eyes, and tall; Sandra had long, blonde hair, blue eyes, and petite. Jeff noticed more trucks on the highway. The phone booth, a relic of the mid-1960's, and early 1970's, was still working. Jeff opened the door, and grabbed some quarters into the macine. 'Hey, Ted! It's Jeff. I'm with Sandra. We got into Crystal Lake last night. We forgot about the directions. You go past the Dairy Queen...and the Crystal Lake Diner. I...'. Suddenly Max James, the 48 year old truck driver, was hauling Jeff's van away. 'Hey, he's towing our truck, Jeff', Sandra said. Jeff stopped the phone call. He opened the booth door.

'Hey, asshole! That's my truck...'.

Max drove upward.

Up ahead was Ted.

The red haired camper was giving the truck driver $100 for the prank.

'Oh, you shit!', Jeff smiled.

'Welcome to God's Country!', Ted said. Max waved his right hand, placed his money into his brown colored wallet, then he drove his 1971 year old truck back to the garage, as Jeff and Sandra got into Jeff's truck with Ted.

***

In the middle of the ashy road, the summer heat meant that tar was all over the place. A huge log with brown twigs caused Jeff to stop. 'What the hell?', Jeff asked his friends. 'Let's get rid of it', Ted answered. As they got rid of the obstruction, Sandra looked around. There was a shining object in the deep ditch. 'Look at what I found?', Sandra told Jeff, and Ted. The words read: CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE. 'Camp Blood', Ted off-handedly remarked.

'Camp Blood', Jeff shivered with horror.

'You don't want to hear it. If you do, you'll lose your lunch, believe me', Ted said.

They went back to the truck, and Jeff drove to the Counsellor Training Center.

***

Paul Holt, 25, was glad the summer season was happening. He had blonde hair, blue eyes, and tall. For a decade he was friends with Steve Christy, and Alice Hardy. When she died, he was mourning her death with Ginny Field, his 21 year old girlfriend. He rang the bell. The other campers had had arrived: Mark Sanders, 18, who was in a wheelchair; Vickie Price, 17; Scott Fletcher, 22, a prankster; Jeff, Sandra, and Ted. And Terri Masters, 18, completed the list of new campers. Terri had a dog called Muffin. It was full of fur. It was small, and wasn't big. 'Good morning, campers. Mark, you acted as my Assistant two summers ago, right at Camp Tomahak. Scott, you need all of the help you can get, buddy. Once my Assistant, Ginny Field, arrives, we can work for the summer cash this camping season', Paul said. Ted, who was the Second Assistant Camp Counsellor, was determined to learn the ropes.

Seconds later, Ginny Field arrived at the camp.

She was late. 'Where were you?', Paul asked her.

'I had car trouble', Ginny answered.

'Really...you're late'.

'I know I'm late, Paul. And I'm sorry', Ginny said.

After he cleaned up the engine, black colored smoke hit his face.

Then the exhaust sprayed soot over his face.

Ginny smiled, as she finally reached the counsellor's cabin.
