Chapter Eight - Devil's Juice.

I stand in front of my wardrobe, scanning the entire contents of my clothes. Besides from a few pairs of jeans and basic tops, I don't have anything remotely nice enough to wear for a night on the town. I glance down at my watch and groan, I only have forty minutes left to get ready.

"Damn it." I mutter, bending down to search my drawers for an old dress. I pull out a small dark purple dress I haven't worn for years and give it a slight sniff.

So far, so good.

After throwing my hair up into a messy yet cute bun, I finish my makeup and apply perfume before stepping back and inspecting myself in the full length mirror.

"Not bad." I grin, realising the few pounds I've put on over the years has given me curves in all the right places. I slip into a pair of black heels and reach for my purse before carefully heading down the stairs. When I pull open the door to my apartment block, Kian is already waiting in his car outside. I notice Lila in the front seat and wave, heading towards them. As I slide into the back seat, I catch eyes with Kian in the driver's mirror. They flash with approval as he subtly glances down, eyes roaming over my appearance. I feel my cheeks burn with heat and avert my eyes.

"Girl, you look ah-mazing." Lila gushes over me. I thank her, the reddening on my cheeks deepening even further. Lila is wearing a low cut tank top with tight jeans, her hair is curled to perfection and makeup immaculately done as usual. I compliment her, grateful that I decided to make an effort tonight.

"What about me? Do I not get any compliments?" Kian says, pouting slightly. I chuckle and turn to face him. He's definitely dressed to impress and the scent of his cologne lingers all over the car.

"You look great Kian." I tell him, not wanting him to feel left out. His eyes flicker upwards and he looks at me again through the reflection of the mirror.

"Thank you, likewise." He winks. I bite down on my lower lip and sit back, chatting and laughing with the siblings for the entire drive.

"I don't know what to order." I yell over the music at Lila. She takes the menu from me and scans it, her eyes roaming over the extensive drinks section. After a few moments, she shrugs and closes her eyes before pointing at a random one. I glance down at it and giggle -

"It's called the devil's juice." I laugh. Lila grins widely and leans over the bar, signalling for three of the drinks. I take the chance to turn around, scanning the club. It's not super busy but there's bunches of people gathered together in small crowds. Most booths are taken up and the dance floor is occupied by beautifully dressed humans having the time of their lives. Suddenly I feel a warm hand slip into mine and I glance up to find Kian smiling down at me.

"Come on." He yells, trying to be heard over the loud beats bouncing off the walls. I nod my head and follow him, turning to find Lila right behind us. Kian's hand in mine feels warm and inviting and I try to focus on not sweating and grossing him out. He lead us to the back section of the club, into a booth that's right beside the dance floor. I grin and slide in, feeling excitement settle inside my stomach. I haven't been in a party environment for the longest time and I'd almost forgotten what it felt like to have fun. Kian's sits on one side of me and Lila on the other. After a few minutes of chatting, the drinks arrive to the table and I take one, sniffing the bright red liquid.

"Smells good." I say before taking a sip. The strong taste of alcohol hits me and my eyes widen in surprise. Upon noticing my reaction, Kian laughs -

"You're getting wasted tonight Mia, ain't no doubt about it."

"Yeah, it's time we showed you how us Wiley siblings like to party." Lila tells me, pushing a shot of tequila in my direction. I brace myself for a night I won't ever forget as I down the shot in one go and reach for another.

"Let's have some damn fun." I giggle as the alcohol begins to work its way through my system. Lila cheers and Kian grins, his green eyes sparkling in my direction. We all clink our glasses together, the atmosphere in the club heightening by the second. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket so I pull it out and glance at the screen -

I have one unread text message from Caleb Stonehouse. . .

Hey Mia. Can you pick me up tonight? I've been working late. Caleb.

I quickly send him a response, shaking my head at my phone. Tonight is about remembering to have fun and to forget about Caleb Stonehouse and his mysterious, blunt and sometimes rude personality. Once I send the text, Lila plucks the phone from my hand and raises an eyebrow at me.

"I'm sorry, it was work!" I defend myself. She rolls her eyes before taking hold of my hand and pulling me off my seat and in the direction of the dance floor. One thing about me, I absolutely love to dance. Even more when I have liquid courage in me.

As Lila and I take on the dance floor, I forget about all of my worries and shake what my momma gave me.
