Four

It had been a while since I had these memories that I failed to realize that I was still together with Elisia’s consciousness when she woke up the next day, around six in the morning.

I was reminded that we got company in this room that made me frantically search the area while fixing my clothes. I expected to see someone rolled in covers on the sofa, but found no one.

‘Did he not sleep here?’ Elisia asked while the idea sent a stingy feeling in my chest.

Could this mean that she feels a little guilty about how she easily got worked up last night? I’m not sure since her mind was already planning how today’s outdoor activities would go.

‘It’ll start at ten, so I need to,’ was her unfinished sentences as she stretched her arms before going to the bathroom.

This time, it was like déjà vu, when a broad chest greeted my sight as the door swung wide open. Elisia had to blink twice to confirm if she was already awake before letting out a piercing shriek.

Leon clicked his tongue while he covered one of his ears, ‘Shut up, woman. To be screamed at so early in the morning, is this the first time you saw something perfect?

‘Just what did you say? Something, what, perfect? Excuse me-’

“You are-”

I interrupted his words with a groan. “Just shut up and don’t you-are-excused me, boy.

I don’t know what could make Elisia angrier, a Leon who would throw non-stop retorts or a Leon who would just stare at her with his poker face on. Probably both as she shoved him to make a way even though he completely stood still and looked at her.

“To think that I was touched by how you let me have my privacy yesterday. Get lost,’ was how my words came out but I was doubting Elisia.

Was she touched for real?

“He’s too confident, wait, no. He’s conceited. To be annoyed first thing in the morning will ruin my mood the whole day so, no. Let’s take a bath, have a nice meal, then call my lovely Theo,’ said I but I got startled with how she talked as if someone was also there.

Has this memory been like this from the start?

Out of the blue, there was a knock on the door and it grew louder and louder when I did not answer but I did not intend to until he said why he was doing so.

“Hey, are you okay?” He finally asked.

“Shut up,” answered Elisia when I want us to calm down.

“Why are you pounding the wall? Stop it,” he said, which made us think what on earth was he saying when we caught ourselves pounding Elisia’s head on the wall. “It’s annoying, just stop it.

Elisia gritted her teeth, not because of the unconscious pounding, but because she could imagine how his face must have looked like with his bore tone rang through her ears.

“Lord, please. I need more patience. I’m trying to be good,” she silently prayed.

Taking a long bath is one of the things I found that Elisia and I both enjoyed. We took our time to bathe and to calm down.

When it was time to step out of the bath because her day needs to follow a schedule, she sighed. “After years in this job, I can say that the first time I hated it so much is now. Oh, start when I was called to fill in this effin’ tour. Am I cursed or something?

She puffed her chest up as she planned to ignore Leon before opening the door, but she did not have to. He was not around. A smile was immediately drawn to her face and it did not take a minute for it to be a huge grin.

“See? I can breathe when he’s not around. I can move. I can do what I want. I feel free,” she rejoiced that even I could not help but be glad even though I still think it is better to just be civil to each other.

But her freedom did not last long as her stomach betrayed her right after she got dressed. I could not feel her hunger but it feels weird that I took a bath without my morning coffee.

The hotel boasts their buffet and it was one of the actual selling points why her company partnered with them for this tour. With her food stub in hand, she walked around to see her options so she does not have to make people wait as she decides what to get because she hates that.

In the corner of her eyes, I spotted Leon sipping a cup of who knows what in the farthest seat away from everyone else.

Elisia let a low hiss while I had another pang of guilt in my chest. It’s not my fault that he’s all alone there so why am I feeling like this?

Before I could drop my gaze, he looked in my direction. As our eyes met, a smirk instantly grew on his face.

Since Elisia does not like Leon, I scoffed at him and even turned around with an eye roll. I got surprised by sudden squeals when I was about to tell the woman in front that Elisia wanted to have freshly made pancakes.

There are two girls behind the long table, one is stationed to make pancakes and the other is for rolled omelets, and when I followed what they were looking at, Elisia shakes her head.

She waited for a second before faking a cough to get their attention, “Excuse me, but I’m really hungry and want to have hot pancakes.

“The sheepish looks on their faces are a given, but the large serving on my plate is another thing. They might have felt bad that I had to call them out, but if they only know how rude that guy is. I feel sorry for them, they’re being deceived,” she thought.

Her hands were not holding the tray yet when a voice behind her asked, “Can you finish all that?

The women in front of me started nudging each other to which Elisia could not help but to click her tongue. She made a quick decision that she would pretend not to hear him and continued taking her tray, but a hand stopped her.

“It seems heavy so let me help you with this,” he told her. He then faced the staff and told them, “Coffee, please. Two and a lot of creamers.

She thought, “What the hell?

Elisia grabbed his shirt and pulled him down enough to whisper, “What are you doing? You playing nice gives me goosebumps.

“Just go with the flow. I’ll tell you later,” he whispered back and patted her head. “Okay, babe?
