Three

I couldn’t remember the exact date I began getting these mysterious flashbacks and dreams. I just got used to that it happens from time to time.

Is it like déjà vu? I’m not sure.

I once made my head hurt when I tried to drag them back to my mind, but it will feel like my own after they passed me by. So, I wrote them down as fast, and as much, as I could whenever I magically remembered them, and it was surprisingly consistent every time I looked back on it.

A year had passed since I started noting down these weird phenomena... if I could call them that. It was a hectic year. I graduated, got hired, moved to my first apartment, and finally saw what an airport looks like.

I didn’t forget it, how could I? But they remained in the back of my mind as I got busy with life so why did it start again now?

All I could do was sigh as I am still with Elisia.

It was already nine in the evening when she went back to her room. Scenarios happened earlier that time flashed to me like lightning so I know that we explored the lake, its shrine, and the park before wrapping it up around five.

“It’s amusing,” she said when she was talking to Theo. “It’s amusing but they don’t sell chargers the same as mine. No, there are no chargers there.

“At least, it was just your phone charger. Imagine if you left your laptop or its charger,” he tried to make her feel better. “How could you write your report?

She groaned, “I don’t want to imagine, but yeah. That would suck big time, even more, more annoying than now.

She called him after she was done creating a daily log of everything for her boss, while others were down the hall and eating dinner. An hour later, she was joined by the tour guides to have their meals as well.

As I opened the hotel room’s door, her thoughts began, “I haven’t seen that Constantino guy around after we got back. Earlier, we’re always crossing each others’ paths that I kept on thinking that I’ll bump into him any minute.

I wanted to say if she was waiting for him to pop up as she sounded like it.

“I’ll take a bath, first, before I check my room. I got sweaty,” she continued on her mind as she grabbed a royal blue pouch out of her brown bag.

I was looking at her items, hoping to find luxurious brands like her lipstick, when the bathroom door burst open. It revealed a guy with hairy legs, towel-covered lower part, chiseled abs, and a nice chest until Elisia closed her eyes and screamed.

“Ahh!” I shouted and threw the things I got in hand to him.

When the scene changed, I was standing in front of the three tour guides who all got their pupils shaking in Elisia’s stare.

“Why are we in the same room?” I finally asked with a tone a little higher than normal.

One of them got the courage and spoke, “We thought you said you’re okay with the room, ma’am. We told Suzy to ask you earlier and she said you’re good with it.

My eyes fell on this Suzy and she seemed to be the one who told Elisia that her boss can’t reach her when they were still in the lobby.

A sigh left my mouth when we realized that she was not being weird earlier. To my surprise, Elisia controlled her voice to be calmer, “You did ask me but I know nothing at that time. Let’s just forget it and help me get another room.

I was about to suggest, although she could not hear me, that she can just stay in this room or swap with one of them. Then, I remembered how suffocating it will be if you stayed with your boss in the same room for a long time so I scratched it out.

The location shifted to Elisia being by the door and barged in a second later.

“You! Sleep on the sofa!” I ordered as soon as I saw him sitting on the bed.

“You want me to sleep, where? On the sofa, is that right?” He asked with knitting eyebrows. I nodded and he laughed. “Why don’t you sleep there? It’s your idea, do it.

I don’t know why they are clashing like this, but even I could not believe how he responded to her. In a raised voice, I said, “Excuse me-”

Just to be interrupted by his, “You are excused.

Did Elisia forget her words? I’m not sure, but all she said was, “I’m a girl.

“Really?” was his single word comeback that made her nerve twitch. “I wish you’re not one of the girls asking for gender equality and using their ‘I’m a girl’ card whenever they find it beneficial.

This comment will stir an issue in my time but I think Elisia was being a brat here, so a point to Leon.

“Just sleep on the sofa,” I ordered.

“I paid for this, so you sleep there or you can sleep outside. From what I heard, there’s an incoming festival so I doubt they had rooms to spare for you,” said Leon with a smug look on his face.

Well, what he said is true. Elisia had been told the same when they asked for a new room, an extra bed even, but the hotel can not accommodate it as there was an unexpected big wave of guests for the festival.

“I wouldn’t be here if I got an option,” was the only thing I could say.

Leon let a low whistle, “You got an option to sleep outside, though. The tour bus, perhaps?

“You know what? I might do that,” I answered and marched towards her bag, but just to be laughed at after. “Can you please save your laughter after I leave?

“But I want to do it in front of your face,” he said, making her more worked up.

Elisia pursed her lips tight and tried her best not to answer him anymore as he continued laughing until he said, “I’ll sleep on the sofa. I’ll be taking the keys so you can do whatever you want before going to bed. Like putting on masks or whatsoever.

In a heartbeat, he was gone and I could not believe how surprisingly childish he was.
