Chapter 2

“KILL her with kindness,” Anastacio’s cold voice roared from Grayson’s earpiece. “Did you get that, Gray?

“The fuck, Tac,” he said and smirked. “How am I able to do that? I don’t like her, even a bit.

Agent Tac laughed from the other line. “If I were in your position, I’d rather taste that criminal before killing her.

Grayson ignored the satire in his partner’s voice. “Get your ass here and kill that woman on your own,” he said as he watched the tall and slender woman walked out from the cheap motel where she hid for forty-eight hours. “Prostitutes were your dish.

“Look at that body, Gray,” Tac whistled loudly from the other line that it made Grayson pulled off his earpiece.

“Damn, Tac!” he hissed. “It rang in my ears.

“Go get her,” Tac said with haste instantly. “She looks in a hurry.

Grayson got off his pickup and followed the woman discreetly. The woman crossed the road and was about to get a cab when he caught her arm.

“Surprise, sweetie,” Grayson murmured to the shocked woman as soon he held her arm. “I’m here to pick you up.

Colors left the woman’s fake pretty face. “Fuck!” she said and pulled her arm free. “Let me go—” she shouted. “I’ll call the police!

“No need,” Grayson said with a chuckle. He fished out his badge from his back pocket and showed to the people who were about to meddle with them. “NBI.

“Let me go!” The woman shouted angrily. “I don’t know you!

“Margarita Devera, a.k.a Rita Abra, you’re under arrest for drug trafficking and killing your Indian businessman customer,” Grayson stated and summoned Tac from a distance. “Here’s your hearse—I mean, your convoy.

An unfamiliar white SUV stopped in front of them, and before Grayson could figure out who they were, one of the windows opened, and an armed man pointed the gun at the woman.

“Back off, Gray!” Tac shouted from his earpiece. “They’re armed!

With one shot, the woman’s lifeless body fell on the ground. Grayson was shot on the chest, but he still managed to pull his gun out and shot the attacker. In a split second, the SUV drove away, leaving them on the ground.

Agent Tac got off his sedan and ran towards them. “Did they kill you?

Grayson scowled at his partner. “Who the fuck are they?” he said as he took off his shirt. The bullet from what looks like a .450 revolver buried on his bullet-proof vest.

Tac groaned as he sat up. “Why they didn’t kill you?

“Fuck off, Tac,” Gray snarled and looked at the dead body beside him. “Luckily, the gunman didn’t shoot her head—”

“Or, you’ll go home bathed with grey matters,” Tac finished his words with a chuckle. “I think this woman’s whereabouts have been reported to her boss, and because the media meddled again with the police, our mission was ruined.

“Social media doesn’t help these days,” Grayson said and blocked the smartphones from the people getting near them. “Go home and mind your business.

“Meddling is their forte,” Tac said as he examined the dead body of their target. “I can’t believe I didn’t get a chance to know you, Rita.

“Don’t let these ignorant people get near the body,” Grayson commanded.

“She was alive just a few seconds ago,” Tac said, holding the woman’s wrist. “I can still feel her faint pulse.

“She was shot straight in the chest,” he said, brows furrowed. “The gunman knows where to shoot her without creating a mess.

“Nah,” Tac stood. “They just can’t do headshot with that range. Or, maybe the shooter was a woman. And, when she laid her eyes on you, she was struck in the heart—”

“Shut the fuck up, Tac.” Grayson shook his head not for his partner’s hopeless romantic remarks but because of the sea of people starting to gather around them. “Call the medical examiner to clean this mess.

“The sexy medical examiner?” Tac taunted and waggled his brows. “Dr. Mercones? Sounds like the sweet pastry, Macaroons—”

Grayson glared at his partner. “Quick! I wanted to go home early and grab a beer with my dog.

Agent Grayson Montero is an NBI undercover agent in the Philippines. He’s one of the Bureau’s most excellent and skilled Intelligent Agents and was often scouted to participate in some of the Academy’s Forensics Classes.

Agent Montero or commonly known as Gray Montero wasn’t the typical type of an undercover agent. His six-feet height, perfectly sculpted body built, golden skin, and facial features were remarkable, especially to women. But, because their training days taught them the fashion that will never catch any attention, they still managed to remain unnoticed and unknown.

“This case looks tough, huh?” Dr. Kriszel commented as she examined the scene. “I thought you could accomplish this in no time?

Grayson smirked. The doctor was referring to what Tac has said during their meeting about this Cocaine Dealer Syndicate. He can’t blame the lady doctor for being insulting, Tac was the one who claimed their team’s victory even though he hadn’t seen the case backlogs.

“We’re a thin thread away from accomplishing our mission,” Tac said, not giving up. “Anyway, Doc. Have you thought about my proposal to you?

The lady doctor knotted her forehead. “You mean, your indecent proposal?

Grayson shook his head. His partner would never give up until he gets the heart of the doctor. Anastacio was a playboy, even during their Academy days, he used to lure the policewomen with his romantic words.

He was about to get in his car when his phone rang. “Agent Gray,” the dead tone off their Deputy Chief aired from the other line. “You and your team will be transferred to Manila—”

“But, we haven’t done with our mission here in Cebu,” Grayson cut off. “Give us more time—”

“Your next target just flew up to Manila a few hours ago,” their deputy said, disappointment was apparent in his voice. “It looks like you have been watched. Be careful this time, Gray. We can’t lose this case.

Grayson clenched his jaw. “Yes, sir. We’ll never fail this time.
