Chapter 6

"With me." Tyler stands up. "Anna is my mate."

Just hearing him say those words makes my heart flutter, my mind race, my knees grow weak and makes me feel whole. It's the first time he's said Anna and mate in the same sentence.

I look down at the hardwood floor trying to hide my blush.

"Anna is that true?" Frank asks.

I peek up to see everyone's eyes on me. "Yes, he's my... mate."

Frank sighs and walks up to me. "Anna... there's something I never told you, and that thing is why you can't just run away."

Frank has been keeping secrets from me; I'm not surprised. Everyone does.

"Well, what is it?" I ask slightly curious.

He takes a moment to look around the room after his eyes meet mine again.

"Are you sure you want me to tell you in front of everyone?" He asks unsure.

Before I could answer his question, Tyler already did.

"Jackson, Katy." Tyler points his finger at the door, Jackson nods, and Katy huffs as they exit the room. When the door shuts behind them, Frank pulls me to one of the chairs in front of Tyler's desk, and I sit. Franks relaxes in the other chair, and Tyler sits back in his office chair.

"Well?" I question inpatient. My fingers were tapping against the end of the chair arms and my feet against the floor.

"Anna... you remember the attack right." Frank sits up.

"Are you kidding?" I ask blankly.

"Well, before every attack your father would tell me that if anything happened, I would take care of you. But before the attack, a year ago your father told me more than that."

"You knew about something and didn't tell me?" I murmur.

I know I'm used to people keeping secrets from me but, it's about my family! How could he not tell me?

"Anna I'm sorry, but your father asked me not to tell you anything." He apologizes.

"Whatever, what did he tell you?" I ask, trying not to cry.

"He told me that for a while a group of rogues was threatening the pack, but your father never took them seriously. At the beginning, they were just a small group of rogues but by the time they grew and more joined their group. Your father started getting worried and met with the leader of the rogues, the one who started it all." Frank pauses before continuing. "The leader would always ask for one thing every time they would meet. But your father would never give it to him, so they threatened to attack, and your father still didn't make the deal. So they attacked."

I sat quietly while I tried to process the new information. How could my father not tell us about these threats, did he even tell mom? What did this leader want that was so important?

"What did this leader want?"Tyler asks seriously.

Thank you, Tyler, for always asking first.

Frank takes a moment before answering. "He wanted a mate."

"What does that have to do with her pack?" Tyler questions confused.

"What he wanted was something he couldn't have because her father knew that they were destined to be with someone else and he couldn't take that away from her," Frank explains. "The only thing he wanted from the pack was... Anna. But of course your father never made the deal, the leader wanted you, Anna." Frank turns to face me. "Your father knew the pack wouldn't survive the attack, but he told me that if I made it, I would fake your death and hide you from them forever. But when you ran away someone called the Alpha of moonstone saying that they know you're alive."

Tyler lets out a deep growl.

"Anna they're looking for you." Frank finishes.

Out of everyone why did he want me? There are prettier girls, what's so special about me?

We all sat quietly until Tyler broke the silence.

"Frank, can you give us a minute?" He asks.

"Yeah, of course." Frank stands up and opens the door, but before the door closes, he gave me a small, sad smile.

"Anna, I'm not going to let anything happen to you. No one will ever take you from me." Tyler leans agents his desk with his arms crossed.

"What you said before-"

"I know what I said, and I might not deserve you, but you deserve to be protected." He looks into my eyes.

"Why do you think that you don't deserve me?" I ask dying to know his answer. Why does he push himself away from me?!

He looks up at me and into my eyes.

"You're so innocent, pure, so untouched."He slowly makes his way towards me. "But I'm not."

My breath hitches as his electric touch slowly glide down my arm, I can feel my wolf getting restless.

"I don't want to take that away from you." He chants into my ear. "I'm not who you think I am."

I look up into his mesmerizing eyes.

"I might as well go with this crazy rogue guy then; he'll just steal it away from me." I tease.

He quickly spins me around, and my butt hits his desk. "Like hell, I'll let that happen!" He growls.

"Well, then I guess you have no choice," I whisper in his ear.

He grunts before his lips crash agents mine, moving in perfect synchronization. That spark I get when our lips meet is becoming my addiction. I have no idea where this side of me came from; I feel sexy and in control. I don't feel like the sad little girl who's family died; I feel confident.

Before anything became too heated, he pulled away. Immediately my wolf whimpered at the distance between us, that she didn't feel his irresistible touch.

"Please, don't stay away from me." I breathe heavy.

Before he could answer the phone started ringing on his desk. He sighed and picked it up; I couldn't hear what the person was saying. Tyler only answers in yes or no. I don't want to get in the way of his work, so I left and went back to the living room. Katy, Jackson, and Frank are all talking about who knows what. When they notice me enter the room, they all stop talking. I crash on one of the couches and relax in the plush cushions. I don't even want to think about our kiss.

"How are you taking in everything?" Frank asks as he sits beside me.

"Frank, I'm scared," I answer honestly.

How many people thought I was dead? I would have gone with this leader if my family would still be alive. Just thinking about a chance that they could have lived makes me want to go crazy. I could have done something!

"I know Anna; it's going to be okay." Frank soothes me.

"I could have done something."

"No you couldn't have, it wasn't in your control." Frank puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, I could of! It's all my fault!" I yell losing control.

"Anna calm down," Katy says in a relaxed, soothing tone.

"No! I should have gone with him! I could have saved everyone!" I scream as tears run down my cheeks.

Frank grabs my hand, but I pull it away.

"You knew! People died because of me!" I cry.

A hand from behind me pulls me into their arms. Right, when our skin touched I knew it was Tyler. He held me in his warm embrace as I cried on his chest.

"I could have saved them." I cry onto him.

"I know, I know, come on." Tyler picks me up bridal style as I bury my face in his neck. He carries me upstairs, and into his room, everything in here smells like him. He lays me on his bed and lays beside me, pulling me against him and holding me tight. I calm down because being beside him feels so right. His hand rubs my back as I sniffle, I close my eyes and take a deep breath.

"Anna, your so beautiful." Tyler whispers.
