The Twentieth Day: 11 April 2020

The Twentieth Day: 11 April 2020 (78,991 confirmed infected, 9,875 died, in total)

"May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future." – Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen gave a recorded audio message from the Windsor Castle to remind Christians and other people of light and hope. She had never given an Easter message to the public before. Certainly, people need more power from their faiths under this difficult times.

Pretty good sunshine and breeze today. Neighbours came out on their balconies to soak up the sun and take a good breath of fresh air. Not to be outdone, all three members of our family moved our laptop, yoga pad and toys on to the balcony and enjoyed the “outdoor” time together.

We ordered Domino’s delivery to have a pizza lunch on the balcony. The deliveryman phoned us upon his arrival at the gate of our community. He put the boxes down on the pedestrian way, quickly walked away for at least five metres, and beckoned me to pick them up. After I checked the ordered items and thumbed up to him, he left.

Dan unrolled the picnic blanket on the balcony and could not wait to open all the delivery boxes. He ate his favourite food like a whirlwind. No wonder he was eating in such a manner – Sonne and I really cannot be said as good cooks. Dan must already be bored eating our two or three “signature dishes” during these twenty days.

People in the UK are luckier than Chinese people on the satisfaction of their appetite. During the Chinese version of lock-down, no take-away or delivery food services were still allowed. Even meats, vegetables and other raw materials were provided in fixed types and quantities in some cities. Every family was back to days with plain home-made food only, without complaint. After all, it was more correct to remain to be a survivor, not to die as a gourmet.
